バンドくん [Band-kun, aka. Mr. Band]

A PC-9801 game from KOEI Co Ltd., released in 1990. It’s a music industry simulation where you start a band, working dead-end jobs and recruiting band members as you work your way up the ladder, from selling your CDs on the street to playing big arena gigs. You actually perform the music too, using mouse gestures to simulate playing the instruments.

Band-kun required a MIDI-capable sound card PLUS an external MIDI sound module, making it a prohibitively expensive purchase. It came with a default scenario called “ZAP CITY 1991″ and was meant to have additional scenarios, but none were ever released.
