Hunting for pixie dust | VII | Nana
~
Leaving the woods the following morning, Nana followed Doris the frog lady's instructions to a tee; within a few hours she had finally come to the edge of the forest, the sunlight burning her eyes, given she hadn't seen it this intensely for six days now. "Wah! So bright!" Covering her eyes, Nana smiled widely as a fresh breeze circled around her, it felt so good to be out of the forest and away from danger, her mission was drawing to its final stages now...all she had to do was acquire pixie dust!
It was a short journey--not two hours, from the forest to the city, she could see the glow against the skyline, so never once got lost this time around. She smiled widely as she wandered along the glittered pavement. Nana had heard many wonderful stories about the City of Pixies--how the buildings glimmered against both the sunlight and the moonlight, the residents flew everywhere and spoke with the cutest helium voices one would ever hear. Even the animals had wings, and the magical dust fluttered off their being with every move they made.
And as she made her way through the spectacular gates of the city, Nana marvelled at the sights and sounds of the buzzing atmosphere; sky scrapers glistened and beamed, the inhabitants grinned and greeted her warmly--though humans were nothing new to them, pixies never really had many visitors to their city. Nana overheard their chattering and pondering of her purpose there. Sitting down at café, Nana ordered a peach iced tea as she contemplated on the best way to go about her mission.
"Hmm, well I'm not sure if they sell their own dust...it'd be a huge convenience if they do of course, but something tells me that I wouldn't be on this mission if the tribe were able to just buy it. So, maybe it's gonna be like one of those trade things! I give them something in return for the dust--although that sounds slightly sexual...no thanks." Sipping at her tea, a small note suddenly appeared by Nana's side...
If it's pixie dust you require, then you will have quite a job ahead of you human girl, no one around here gives their dust away for nothing...even if you have good intentions, they do not give it up for free. You can try and bargain with the King, it's the safest method, although it's not a 100% certainty that you will achieve this.
Looking around to see who left the note, several pixies glanced back at her in confusion--except for one which simply fluttered away. A short while later, Nana went to seek out a room for the night, not wanting to travel back late at night--were she to be successful in bargaining with the king straight away. It didn't take her long to find an accommodating pixie who took her in for the night; though Nana realised it would be better not to mention the real reason as to why she was going to see the king, instead she told her that she was bringing a new peace treaty from her tribe--which the pixie seemed to buy. With that, she hampered down for the remainder of the day, going over a thousand times in her head, just exactly what she was going to do the next morning.
