He glances up from his papers, giving the thin gem a measured look before nodding and setting them aside.
“Eventually, yes. Not soon, though, unless something drastic happens. After all, we’re not just a team, we’re your team. Even if you don’t really… need us… that isn’t something you can just step back from. As it stands now, the only way I’m gonna leave is if I’m ordered.”

“Wh- oh, hello, Sapphire.” He almost asks where Ruby is, then decides against it. “Uh… well, do you mean being a soldier in general, or coming to assist you?
Soldiering overall, well… that was always kind of a principle thing. Somebody’s going to have to do it, and if I go that means someone else won’t have to, y’know? Sometimes things don’t go away on their own. That’s why guys like me have to step up.”
He chuckles. “Gems, on the other hand… well, that’s not doing some government bigwig’s dirty work in the sandbox. This is… bigger than countries, y’know? It’s the whole planet at stake.”
