Ok a few weeks back I talked about a Connie swap au I had back in 2019 here

Well I wanted to edit one of those screenshots and make actual designs for fun!! 🩵🩷💙💚💜

As mentioned prior, the basic rundown is Connie is the gem hybrid now and the crystal gems are Bismuth, Lapis and Peridot 🌙

Some of these are based on designs I did years ago in various sketchbooks

Peridot

Taking care of you while you're sick (She's a Gem, you're a human)

So, yeah... I guess I shouldn't write this cuz I dropped watching SU in the middle and forgot most parts of the plot but I decided,at least, try to write something about her for him basing on everything I remember about her. Just mind it...

The moment she learns that humans can get sick from things like viruses, cold weather, or even just exhaustion, she starts to panic a little. She begins seeing humans as fragile as glass. She asks you over and over again

"Are you sure you're not falling apart? Do humans really break down this often?"

For the first half hour, she tries to solve the problem using the scientific method she found in a book or on some random website. She checks your temperature every ten minutes, writes everything down in a notebook, and comes up with theories about why the human body is so inefficient.

She reads the medication instructions at least three times. Then she looks up more information online just to make sure she's doing everything correctly (watching a few video tutorials wouldn't hurt either). Only after all of that does she hand you your medicine with the most serious expression imaginable.

If the doctor says you need to drink more water, Peridot treats it like the highest-priority order. The moment you take a couple of sips, she's already placing another glass beside you, as if water is the only thing keeping humans alive.

She basically becomes your personal reminder, alarm clock, notebook, everything:

"Have you eaten?" "Did you drink any water?" "Did you take your medicine?" "Why aren't you sleeping?"

Sometimes it feels like she has dozens of alarms programmed into her brain just for all of those things.

She gets genuinely annoyed whenever you say something like, "I'm fine." To her, that's a completely illogical statement when you're running a high fever. Why would you lie?

If she notices you trying to get out of bed to do chores around the house, she'll use her metal powers to make you stay put. She might gently pull a metal chair over to block your path or quietly shut the refrigerator door if you decide you're going to cook. (The TV remote is definitely getting pulled away too.)

She doesn't really understand human words of comfort, so instead of saying something like, "Poor thing," she'll say:

"Your current condition is temporary. According to my calculations, the probability of your recovery is extremely high. This is good news. You should be grateful to have such an excellent friend as me."

If you start coughing for too long or too loudly, she flinches before asking in complete seriousness

"Is this some kind of critical malfunction? Should I contact a medical professional?"

At first, she thinks blankets are just useless pieces of fabric. But once she notices that they actually make you feel better, she starts fixing the blanket every time it slips even a little. In her mind, if it has such a positive effect, then it obviously needs to cover you completely in order to transfer all of its strange beneficial properties.

Peridot eventually discovers that humans like having someone nearby when they're sick, even if they're just quietly keeping them company. So she brings over her laptop or tablet, sits beside your bed, and silently works on her research, occasionally glancing over to make sure you haven't woken up or gotten worse.

If you fall asleep, she tries her best to stay quiet. Although every now and then she forgets and starts talking to herself while taking apart another machine, stomping around the room, opening cabinets, or making all sorts of noise.

When you complain that you can't taste anything because of a stuffy nose (or because you lost your sense of taste from COVID, lol), she'll bring you different foods and watch with scientific curiosity to see whether you can taste them. To her, it's practically an experiment and, in a way, kind of entertaining.

She quickly realizes that human recovery takes time, and that frustrates her to no end. She wishes one pill could fix everything instantly, so when it doesn't, she'll grumble

"What an incredibly flawed biological system... How do humans even survive?"

Once you've finally recovered, Peridot acts as though she's completed the greatest scientific mission in history, a heroic feat worthy of legend. With an incredibly proud smile, she announces

"Human Subject successfully restored. My strategy proved effective. I expected this exact outcome... although, I admit, I was somewhat worried the entire time."

After that, you'll probably spend a very long time trying to explain her why that doesn't technically make her a doctor.

a rough edit+some thoughts on gems' initial perspectives on what Steven is

Jasper has seen Rose changing her forms to experience new things, and to her, Steven is just another form, and she's only playing pretend. Her game has gone too far. She tries to reason with the baby and even tries to give him an order to shapeshift back, met with babbling and giggles. She is frustrated with Rose's self-indulgence and lack of compliance. Lapis sees that Steven is not Rose, but something new - a fusion of a human and a gem. She believes that Rose is losing herself in the fusion, that the baby is overpowering her. She tries to connect with Rose's mind like Rose once connected with Malachite, but fails to find Rose there. Panicked, she assumes the worst - Rose's gem is trapped in the baby, and she is suffering inside, all alone and scared. Peridot agrees that Rose's absence could be related to her being embedded in the baby's body. But she also sees Steven as a unique case of organic life. She contemplates whether it's possible to have Rose come back by separating the gem from the organic form, calculating the possible risks. She hypothesises that surgically removing the gem would let Rose come back, and heal the baby if it's somehow harmed. Fortunately, Jasper reminds her of the concept of doing no harm, not "least" harm. What she is doing is in no way beneficial to baby's health. Peridot sulks. She can't vivisect a baby, how could she think of doing that! Jasper is just upset now, by how complicated Steven is. She's mad at Rose, for leaving all of them just for this baby to exist. He's strange, he's ugly, he's not her. Lapis agrees - this is not her. She isn't here. Steven is. And none of their grief is Steven's fault. So let them see Steven for what he is, even if they don't understand what he is exactly.
