This project was based off of Peace Week. My project was made around deforestation. The picture on the left represents how humanity tears down forests to make factories, houses, offices, and hospitals. Cutting down forests and trees isn’t always a bad thing. Especially to build things we need to survive like hospitals and shelters. But while we are taking over forests to build resources for humans, we are also taking away resources from other species. The picture on the right represents how humans don't take care of nature like we should. Recently animals have been abused to amuse and humor those on social media. As you can see in the picture there is a warning sign about bears. But the people in the picture ignored the sign and are about to themselves in trouble with the mama bear. In the middle there is a compromise between the 2. We love our world and our world loves us. Which is why we need to start taking better care of the planet we call home. If we take over other species homes, make sure they have somewhere else to go or simply don't take over what is already something else’s home. Its our home just as much as ours.

The topic I did for this project was deforestation. I chose this topic because it’s something that’s been going on around the world for years. Everybody knows about it but nobody really cares about it. It’s one of those topics that the more you bring it up, then the more people will realize how bad it is getting. It was a bit challenging trying to convey this message without using words. I did in the picture on the left I used trees as a symbol of life in the trees. The stumps were symbolized as trees being cut down. Then factories, houses, buildings, and hospitals to show how humans are taking over the planet. Like I said it’s not all a bade thing. But a lot of it is needed, just about as much is unneeded. in the picture on the right I used the bear warning sign to show how young adults in todays world disobey certain things in nature and put them and other animals at risk of danger. In the middle picture I showed how the world is in our hands. We over populate the earth and need to take care of it better than we have been. We on earth can have what we need but also need to stop taking from what other species need.

I used many different shapes in this project. My favorite is in the middle picture with the earth. Inside the earth the grey is where there is land and the white is the water. Where all the grey is inside the earth is where I cut out. I did have to cut out some details in things to show more of what the shape is suppose to be. I did that a lot in the stumps from the trees. Also on the houses and building so you’re able to see the windows. There was a lot of detail put in the bears as well to make sure you couldn’t just see a fury blob and could obviously tell they’re bears.

Peace Week!

I know I should have posted this earlier today, but today (Saturday) is the first day of something I’m calling Peace Week where everything on my blog posted within the week will be non political.

This includes the social justice groups that I love so much, and pretty much anything I would have to consider putting trigger warnings in, leaving every post lighthearted and feel good, and only going as far as to poke fun at everyday things (such as my previous post about cramps :D).

Also, some or most of the things I post this week will be added to a tag that I have been working on for a while to help people with depression, which will be announced in a later post.

I don’t know how often I will do this, right now I’m thinking every couple months if it seems like it works in one way or another. Which means that depending when I decide to start one I will post to notify you all when the political posts will be removed from my re-blogging habits.

I do realize that there might be other things called peace week but this is specifically for my blog.

#peaceprayers: Wednesday after Peace Sunday

Holy God, who comes to be with us in the lowliest of places, hear our prayers this morning. 

For Hateful speech which seeks to demonize human beings, we pray- for the softening of hearts and politics with compassion and grace. 

For racism and xenophobia, rampant in our political discourse, sometimes explicit and at other times hidden beneath the wisdom of our world, we pray- for a new kin-dom in which all people are valued, cared for, and accepted. 

For fear, which prevents us from action, encourages retaliation over reconciliation, and prevents us from embodying the love of Christ, we pray- for renewed spirit, and the courage to speak up for the marginalized, the oppressed, and the refugee. 

Oh God, this Christmas season there are enough voices speaking out of fear and hatred; let us be the voice of your peace, which passes all understand and which has the power to transform all of us. 

In Your Holy Name, 

Amen.
