HC that sometimes Lightning can’t sleep and he’ll be pacing back and forth in Doc’s living room because his nerves are frazzled. He’s probably got something on his mind, whether it’s an upcoming race, a recent media spectacle, or a personal dilemma.
On those nights, Doc takes out the Hornet and drags Lightning with him on late night drives across the Ornament Valley. They’ll park somewhere in the desert under the stars and just chat under the moonlight until the dawn breaks.
Those are Lightnings favourite memories after Doc passes away. Doc left the Hornet in his possession. Sometimes, on particularly hard nights, Lightning will drive out there himself and park in all the places they used to go. He imagines Doc sitting there with him, talking through his problems out loud and asks himself what Doc would say. It keeps him grounded.
