I think Cora wants to teach the boys the right ways to pick their marks. If he’s gonna be raising pirates at least they’re gonna steal from the right places. (The places that think they’re better than serving poor people)

In his time as a pirate beside Doffy and on the road with Law he’s realized the government is not the justice he was raised to believe it is

Big question... does Luffy notice Cora has fallen for Katakuri and decides to kidnap liberate the Second Son of Big Mom so Cora can be happy with him?

Luffy knows Cora cares about Katakuri- but he knows they’re adults and can make their decisions. Katakuri is powerful and feels a deep sense of responsibility for his family. There is no “liberating” him cause despite the stress he’s under in the role he’s in, he’s in it willingly. And at any moment Cora could have decided to stay. But he wanted to return to his own captain.

Luffy would have left whole cake without Cora if that’s what he wanted. Just like he would have left Sanji if that’s what Sanji actually wanted.

Pirate romance spans oceans and years and Cora knows he’ll meet Katakuri again eventually. His husband is a determined guy. And was gifted a lil mirror compact to stay in contact with him.

For Luffy and Sabo Cora is a mentor (playmate). Someone to help them get stronger/smarter/stretchier. He’s fun and smart but he’s just someone they trust

Ace relies on Cora as much as he’s able to let himself. Which isn’t much. But Cora’s care, much like Makino’s, shows Ace people can love and care for him, no strings attached. When Cora and Law leave Dawn, Ace is the one that asks them to keep in touch. (In the future, Ace puts up a juuust slightly shorter fight on the Mobey. It’s not as hard for him to see when someone is genuinely looking to care and protect their “son” because he’s seen a good father before, where in Cannon, he hasn’t)

And Law, it takes him a long long time to really even think it, but Cora is as close to a dad as he’s ever gonna get again. He isn’t sure if he can ever say it out loud (would that betray his actual father? Does Cora want to be attached to him like that? If he says it out loud, it becomes real and real things can be burned). He had unconditional love as a child, and he is so incredibly happy he found it again in Cora.

Yes!! Actually before i got this ask id been sketching their meeting. I’ll post it in a sec

I was debating between Garp being oblivious to Cora’s true identity or him being able to see through it and I eventually decided- the mans near the tippity top of the marines. He’s brash and a little absent but he’s smart. He’d be able to recognize Rosi. I imagine Garp was hangin’ around during the time Sengoku was raising him.

So I'm guessing Law has nerd out and info dumped Ace, Sabo, and Luffy about his favorite comic Sora, Brave Warrior of the Sea.

I imagine Ace and Luffy don't care to much about it till they find something they found cool (like the giant robot) while Sabo would look through it to find propagate they have

Sabo only reads it for Luffy, Ace thinks it’s boring. Why would he read about fighting when he can do that so easily in any grey terminal bar lmao. And Luffy thinks Stealth black is suuuper cool. He knows he’s gonna get that guy on his crew. Law misses his friends back in the north cause they shared his interest in Sora.

They get along very well, Rosi recognizes a lot of anger in Ace and wants to make sure he has someone who can relate. It’s not perfect but its someone who can at least try to be a positive role model for Ace
