Lin Manuel Miranda, the writer/star of Hamilton, and the child of Puerto Rican immigrants, is pretty adamant about what the show represents. It's really not necessarily about putting a spotlight on the racism of the founding fathers (particularly since Hamilton himself was likely not entirely white, and was adamantly anti-slavery) but it does definitely call out Thomas Jefferson for his hypocrisy in preaching equality while owning slaves. His intent in casting PoC however is not exactly that.
