Sometimes I worry that my fandom for One Piece may come across like I’m overselling it but then along comes a chapter like 1126 & it reinforces that it genuinely deserves being called One Peak

One Piece Chapter 1126 Spoilers

I absolutely expected a lull in the action now that the Vegapunk arc was over but Oda made it clear he wasn’t interested in slowing down!

Seeing the Blackbeard crew fully reunite & getting a glimpse of their surveillance of world events made me itch to finally see the full scope of Teach’s plotting. The dude remains at the top of my personal list of favorite One Piece villains.

I’m also very glad that the plot point of Bart burning the Red Hair Pirate Flag was capitalized on this chapter. Oda also brilliantly melded Shanks’ earnestness & pride in Luffy with his ruthlessness as a Pirate Emperor. I was certainly ready to see Shanks let Bart off the hook for his display of his mettle & loyalty to Luffy but then we get that extra level of characterization with him still getting retribution by destroying Bart’s ship potentially killing several of his crew. Shanks is ultimately a kind dude but as Zoro said eloquently back at the end of Water 7, Shanks’ crew aren’t just kids playing pirates so principles & shows of strength matter to them just as much as loyalty to one’s crew/captain.

And finally we’re treated to an absolute banger of a cliffhanger with the Giants’ ship to Elbaf seemingly stalled on their route home & a handful of Strawhats & the Sunny being lost. Considering these circumstances & the fact that Nami awakens in an insanely strange environment, I’m wondering if this is related to the Pitch Black Ship we’ve heard about a few times that is said to hold one of the last Poneglyphs.

It might be a meme to say but One Piece truly was fantastic this week & I’m eagerly awaiting 1127
