Shannon didn’t know what island gods she had pleased since they had been stranded, but she was really grateful that Claire was there. The other blonde was the picture of strength in Shannon’s mind, for surviving and holding on despite everything that had happened. She let a small smile appear on her face as she looked at Claire, taking comfort in the other girl’s presence.
“Yeah.” She glanced quickly at her brother’s retreating form as he and John once again went on another search in the jungle before looking back at Claire. “Thank you, Claire. That…that means a lot.”

I know all the times he saved Claire were actually to keep Charlie alive, but I could see him still being a bit protective of her even after, for Charlie and because it’s become a bit of a habit.
