“I can see it, you know?”
Juliet’s brow furrows. “See what?”
“That he’d be good with kids,” Claire points out, her body slowly beginning to sway. “He acts like he’s not, but back on the beach, when Charlie…” Her sentence trails, but she swallows past it, clears her throat gently. “Sometimes Sawyer would watch Aaron too, when I needed the rest. Aaron loves his voice.”
“I heard,” Juliet chuckles, watching the baby drift further towards unconsciousness in Claire’s arms.
“It’ll be good. Whenever you have your own.”
Juliet’s eyes flash back to Claire, to the glitter of amusement lighting up her face as she looks back at her.
“I… don’t know,” Juliet manages, quickly averting her gaze to the laundry fluttering in the breeze. “Timing would have to be right and—”
“Oh, yes, timing. It’s everything,” Claire replies, a barely contained grin across her lips when Juliet glances back to her. “Obviously, I totally considered timing when I conceived this one.”

“We have spent the last two weeks being hunted, held at gunpoint, or running for our lives,” she says calmly, fanning her fingers out over the scarring bullet wound along his shoulder. “And you’ve barely touched me since the cages.”
“Juliet,” he husks when the clothing falls at their feet, his head dipping forward until their foreheads are bumping and her nose is grazing his cheek, her breath spilling hot across his skin.
“So, yes.” She nods before framing his face with her hands, combing back his hair with soothing fingers that trail along his scalp, trickle down his throat to linger along the racing place of his pulse. “You,” she says, glancing up from beneath her lashes. “I need you.”

“Tell us where they are.” Ryan presses the muzzle of his gun harder to Jin’s forehead. Jin closes his eyes. “Or say sayonara to your friend.”
“A radio tower,” Bernard bursts out. “They're hiking to a radio tower.”
“Why in the hell are they going there?” Sawyer wonders aloud.
“A woman,” Bernard gets out. “Parachuted here. She has a satellite phone and they're gonna call her ship.”
“You heard that, Ben?” Tom speaks into the walkie.
“I heard.”
“So, what do you want us to do?” Tom questions. “Kill 'em?”
“No. Not yet,” Ben replies. A moment of static. “Stay with them. Wait for my call.”
Tom lowers the walkie to his side, tucking it into the pocket of his cargo pants.
“I gotta say,” he begins, glancing to Sawyer from the corner of his eye, a smirk curling at his lips. “I’m impressed, Ford. Figured you’d eventually wise up, come to see things our way, but I was starting to worry it'd take a lot longer.”

It takes him only an hour of hustling through the jungle before he finally locates the medical station mentioned in the files Juliet discovered—the Staff, with its bright red symbol wrapped around the ‘Dharma’ logo that is on most of the Others’ shit. Sawyer grunts as he tugs open the doors, descending into the station like one would an underground cellar.
The place is massive, constructed with a maze of hallways, each path leading into a room featuring towers of medical equipment. But he knows he’s in the right place when he ventures into a room with an ultrasound machine and a bed equipped with stirrups, meant for delivering babies.
He’s searching through filing cabinets, sorting through anything and everything that might fit the bill of what Juliet described as a serum of some sort. He almost doesn’t hear the approaching footsteps.
Almost.
