“Marry me.” From a recent prompts list.

Marriage was not a concept that had ever made any semblance of sense to Antonin. Perhaps that was a personal bias, based upon a near complete lack of significant emotional attachment to the people in his life. Perhaps that was a simple dislike of anything that appeared to be legally binding, or legal in any sense of the word. Perhaps it was just a general dislike of that form of attachment, for fear of what it could cause in him. A fear of vulnerability, of an exploitable external factor, one that he could hardly grasp and maintain proper control of. Still, as he and Alecto stood together in the shower, gruff hands taking such particular care to clear blood from soft skin, Antonin found the thought popping into his mind for the first time he could recall since his early youth. Since before he'd met Riddle and embarked on their dual mission to cleanse the world of the filth that infected it; Antonin hadn't considered anything even akin to marriage since those days, since well before his thirties had even hit, let alone now as he neared his late forties. He didn't humor such thoughts, preferring thoughts of death, destruction. And yet, there it was. As his fingertips brushed along Alecto's shoulder, down her side, along the gentle curve of her hip, he found the thought a shockingly prevalent one at the moment. Perhaps that was just the knowledge that Alecto was here with him now, not running as so many Pureblood princesses had done from the promise of bloodshed and power struggle on a daily basis. Perhaps it was that Alecto was as enthralled with that bloodshed and power as he could be, as deep in the ongoing battle as he so often was now that Riddle found power. Perhaps it was just that Alecto had a beauty to her when her skin was bloodstained, when the red slowly gave way to perfect porcelain, hardly scarred even for the amount of damage they had done to it just between the two of them. He could appreciate the sadism that showed itself in the curve of her lips when a game was before them, especially when she took precedent and was permitted the most action. He could appreciate the near masochism that echoed in her begrudging submission to him when the moment came and the blood pool was large enough. The words were out before he'd considered the repercussions of them. "Marry me." A thought he could swear he would never have again, and least of all toward the perfect Pureblood princess whose skin was nearly down to its pristine porcelain again under the shower's spray and the light ministrations of too rough hands. A thought he was certain she herself would never humor; it would surely bring about a callous laugh, harsh and barking, as though mocking just the thought of them finding a union of that severity. She had Amycus, after all, and he... He was no Amycus. And yet, the laugh didn't come, and Antonin found himself looking down to catch brilliant eyes staring up at him with something that could have been akin to shock. Had he ever shocked Alecto before? He couldn't recall; he found the look was one he appreciated more than he'd thought, especially given the expectation he'd had as soon as those traitorous words had passed his lips. Yes, shock was far preferable to amusement or mockery, neither of which were scrawled across pointed features as he lifted a hand and brushed his thumb over her lower lip gently, an easy affection. "Of course, there  could hardly be a proper ceremony, lest we wish to bring the world's Aurors down upon us. And filing it may be on the difficult side. But when we succeed in our battles and rise up above the filth properly, when we're no longer running as we are and can play as we wish... Perhaps then. Can you imagine yourself in a dress of your choosing, offering vows that promise you as mine and I as yours? With a ring, perfectly chosen for you. The world's best known couple in power -- it has a nice ring."
