I would love to give you a snippet but that WIP is ALAS almost entirely a blank document. BUT 👆here's what it will be someday:

My partner suggested writing a fic about Tobio adopting a cat. I have given him a cat in several fics but have never addressed the actual adoption story. The setup will be: Tobio is accompanying someone else who is going to adopt a cat. In my head it is almost definitely Yachi. Yachi wants company and moral support and Tobio agrees to go along although he's like "Are you sure? What if I scare all the cats away from you?" Obviously once he's inside, a cat will adopt him.

Though I’ve read through a good many books since I was a kid, the one that I’d have to call my favorite is actually one that, when I originally read it as a child, it scared the FUCK out of me: Zombie Survival Guide (and it’s pseudo-sequel, World War Z) by Max Brooks.

I first picked it up in 6th grade and tore through that fucker with all the speed and heedless hubris of a soul who’s never yet known fear nor sense--after I finished the main book after a day or two, I legit was convinced zombies were a real threat because of how seriously the book took the topic. I don’t think it was until I looked at the back to read ‘parody’ as its labeled genre that I finally calmed down? ish?

As an adult it still fascinates me for a lot of reasons. As a reader, I love the overall concept not primarily of a post-apocalypse world, but of a post-post-apocalypse, wherein the concept is how humanity rebuilds and comes together as one cohesive unit of peoples. While there’s certainly something freeing about the destruction of modern luxuries and the immaterial stresses that come from it (bills, taxes, schedules, etc), there’s something even more inspiring from knowing we are, at our heart, a people that help one another when confronted with great destruction. 

As a writer, Max Brooks wrote his world with such a beautiful level of detail, especially with World War Z; having a collection of so many unique perspectives really made it seem palpable and deeply unsettling, but never grotesque. I think every child comes to confront their mortality in some form or another as they grow up, and this was that confrontation for me--but it also provided a world wherein I had control and agency in the apocalyptic scenario where a lot of others didn’t (natural disasters, aliens, etc etc). 12-year-old me was TERRIFIED of zombies, but I knew at minimum I could find a baseball bat and go feral to defend myself.

Even though the zombie craze is long since over (and his books are well over a decade or so old) it’s still a beloved duo of books, and I tune out super easily when I listen to the audiobook versions.

Candytufts: This is another tough on. Instinct says that when I’m surrounded by friends, that would be the time, but I also get like real lonely/cathartic/melancholy in those moments? I think the truest answer for me here would be those little moments late at night when I’m lonely and going through it, but then, out of the blue, a close friend texts me ans it just sorta snaps me back to reality? Or the late-night talks I have with my mum when we really like understand each other and I just feel like warm because we actual manage to connect for once? (Sorry thats sappy lol and i oop)

Cock’s Comb: This is real basic but Arial font is my go-to! Simple, clean, professional, and very readable! Love that shit bro

Lavender: I love a lot about myself, but most of it tends to be a double-edged sword. The one thing that I love about myself and I don’t think I could ever fault myself for is my idealism? Like, I can be naive but I could never find fault in wanting for a better future if that makes sense??

Tropical White Morning Glory: uhhh I guess my aesthetic would probably be like popart vibrancy and contemporary vibrancy meshed with like oscar wilde cottagecore eccentricism, while reveling in all things tacky. Idk i just sorta gravitate towards anything that feels avant garde ya know??

Did you have a rough night the day before? Bam he’s sneaking out of the bed and trying not to wake you up as he makes your favorite breakfast foods. Even going as far to attempt a heart in your coffee (and if you don’t like coffee, maybe he’ll try to make a heart shaped egg! There’s stencils for that stuff and you have to pry the hc that he buys them just to make stuff for you out of my cold dead hanDS-)

If you have a job and you text him on break that you’re really busy and it’s stressing you out, he’s going to make a gameplan on how to cheer you up after work, even if it means taking a bus to your workplace so he can ride with you home and let you vent it all out to him while he promises to make you good dinner at his place

If you mention you forgot lunch while at school beep beep he’s yoosung kim texting you to meet him somewhere on campus with a nice lunch he made just for you with your favorite drink because he loves you!! His cheeks are flushed whenever you give him a hug and small peck on the cheek because you love him!!!

If he notices that you accidentally left your wallet outside of your purse, he’s quietly just slipping it back in there (without rifling through your purse because that’s just rude abfjsbhf he knows better) so you don’t have a bad day where you accidentally left your wallet at home (even though he’d be willing to help you out in that scenario too)

Matching stuff. He wants to match with you! He wants cute shirts or shoes or jackets the two of you can wear and match with, and even if it’s something small like a button the two of you match, he’s through the moon and so happy you’re willing to indulge in this with him and aaaa he loves you

If you hogged all the blankets during the night he would very much let you do that even if he was freezing (a habit you would probably have to scold him for later because good god he’s going to get a cold one night)

One thing he’d try to do the most of would be giving you forehead kisses. Even if he’s in a rush to his next class, and even if it makes him a bit later, he is going to smooch your forehead and give you a tight hug. He wants you to feel loved and secure!!! Plus it makes him feel good too aaa
