Upon opening a certain door in the Nightmare Knight’s castle, it would seem that Peridot has come across a space that’s a bit larger than a regular closet, containing naught but a pile of stuffed animals... topped with a hat that might be a little familiar.
Moments after the opening door casts light across it, the hat rises slightly, to reveal a pair of round, glowing eyes previously buried in the pile. Besty crashed here after getting a headache from... something, yesterday? And now he’s... he’s... Who is that?
A Dreamsider? A Dreamsider! And it’s not just a costume this time, because he recognizes this one! The headache is gone again, or at least left ignored. The holiday magic kicks back in as his brain reboots, and he springs up out of the pile, sending a few toys rolling to the edges of the room.
“Hey, you’re Nautilus’ friend! With the bad magic, right? I haven’t seen any other Dreamsiders here!” He floats towards the bunny girl, eyes a little too wide, voice a little too fast. “Did you just get here? What happened to your wand??”

“Excuse me, miss, are you a witch?”
Kay knows that Halloween’s coming up, but it’s still a little early for costumes, isn’t it? This girl must be the real deal, she just has to be! It’s always exciting to meet another magic user, especially someone so young-- Kay can’t resist trying to talk to her.
“I just thought ‘cuz you had the cool hat and all. It’s really pretty!”

“Come on now. You’re tired. Pumice and all of her little friends will be there in the morning.” She grumbled a complaint as she dug her head into his back, and he wasn’t getting her to budge, so he sighed and simply went with it.
His arms went behind him to lift her up, and support her as he rose from the couch, and slowly glided down the halls to her room. She was losing the fight against sleep, and the gentle feeling of a snoring child was... comforting all this time, with only Besty around. He’s a good kid, in the end, but he doesn’t sleep. It’s hard for someone to be adorable while they sleep when they, don’t sleep.
She was snug under her covers now. His part was over. Yet, he allowed himself to sit at her bedside. She looked peaceful. He waited. Her features darkened, as those nightmares again returned. Hesitantly, he reached a hand out, first brushing a rectangular lock of hair out of the way, then to brush against her cheek, then against her forehead. There, his eyes closed, his needless breathing became measured, and he pet her hair. Once, twice, three times. Again. Again. Again.
When he stopped, his eyes opened. Her face was no longer darkened with a nightmare, at least for tonight. It will have to do. “Goodnight, Peridot.” He murmured, as a little star drifted downwards to pat against her forehead.

“Peridot is so cool!! She says she’s a real witch, and the best one in Spirale, so I’m really excited to get to know her. She’s got a cool hat and a broom, which means she’s obviously the real deal. Her hair is a pretty color green, and I really like her bunny ears, even though I’ve never met anyone with ears like that before.”
“She seems really confident and smart, which I think is neat—I want to be more like that, someday. We took a selfie together which I have on my phone, and really seemed to like my shapeshifting trick! I hope we can hang out again soon!”
