I think people ship Pearlviar probably because of slowburn and enemies to lovers, creating a narrative about how the two become a couple is fun, personally I like them as frenemies or lovers either way. The idea of Caviar "fixing" her isn't plausible, because Black Pearl has lots of problems that she needs to work through and a relationship won't solve that. Especially considering how her last one ended. That's bound to leave hundreds of problems and scars.
If Caviar and Pearl are shipped together, I'd rather see them gain a frenemies relationship first before having any romantic involvement with eachother. Then as time progresses they become less of enemies and more of friends and Pearl chooses to open up about her problems leading into events where she chooses to make herself better so she can keep this friendship with Caviar. Then when she's healthy enough to try and date, they give it a shot because PEARL feels like she's ready for it.
I've seen way too many enemies to lovers tropes where one person tries to fix the other person and succeeds when realistically that can't happen. You can't fix someone, they have to fix themselves and choose to be better. Seeing Pearl go on her own personal journey to heal from her past is rewarding and idk if well get to see that in CRK so might as well write it for ourselves.
That's just why I ship it tho, sorry for the tangent lmao

tbh idk I just don’t really vibe with it because caviar as a character does not come off as someone who would be interested in sticking around Pearl if she doesn’t have her act together. like he’s already dealing with much of the weirdo racism and colonialism bs in the republic, I don’t think he needs another bratty high-pitched wailing person on his plate, especially one who can kill him easily.
plus also, enemies to lovers usually has a shared mutuality of the whole…enemies thing. Disregarding the fact I’m not a super big fan of m/f enemies to lovers (unless it’s written a certain way, or they’re just doomed) Caviar is not as interested in the relationship as pearl is. He probably wants to stay away from her, and he’s probably wise for that.
