So today I got a bear. The kid above me had it under some books in his locker.
I said “cute bear”
He said, “You want it?”
It is now my lunch tables mascot. We were throwing it around the table because that’s what we do. He fell on the floor more than once. Our friend Mia took the bear and was playing with it like a toddler would. She named him Mr. Beary Bear. Then our other friend Dory took it and made it dab and do side splits. Our friend came to our lunch table and took the bear and hugged it and would not give it back to us. We tried to throw it without getting it near him which is hard to do on a circular table.
We also made a game where we had to shove it in each other's lockers and whoever has it must shove it in someone else's locker. Whoever has it at the end of the year loses. I had put my things in my friend's locker so when I came to collect my stuff I shoved the bear in her locker and ran upstairs to our classroom. I still had my lunch box with me. She got to the classroom and threw the bear at me. When our teacher got inside the room he asked who’s it was. She said it was mine and I said that I gave it to her. She had to keep it and the kid next to her loved it. He played with it the whole class period and called it his son. It was the funniest thing. We were learning about the Rwandan Genocide and her desk group was the Tutsi people. The whole class period went like this:
“So the Tutsi, you six, were being paid by the government.”
“And the bear!”
“Yes you six and the bear were being paid by the government”
I think it’s a good day when a stuffed bear is being paid by the government and I’m not.
