Remember how Carol was kept as a hostage along with the Rommelgrad prisoners during the ASG labs’ raid? That means there’s a good chance she saw Patricia. I can’t stop thinking about those two interacting back then and having One Moment Of Peace before being separated, and then meeting each other again as Peacock and Painwheel with no clue as to who the other really is :’(

i feel like even if they wouldnt fully recognize each other, they would end up doing things that just coincidentally 'click'. peacock buys her sunflower seeds because "she seems like the type who gardens", when really it's something carols shared with her before. someone as defensive and angry as painwheel being gentle and kind with someone as brash as peacock, because subconsciously shes connected with by their experience together.

ok but. valentine’s mobile story mode + painwheel’s wiki states that when carol got kidnapped by the medici mafia, she was kept alongside the no man’s land refugees up until they were all rescued by the ASG labs

that means carol and patricia were together that whole time

can you imagine. carol is terrified about being held hostage and fearing for her life but then she sees this poor injured girl and feels more sorry for her than for herself. she tries talking to her but patricia doesn’t answer at first (because of her injuries AND because she’s still reeling from losing marie). and yet carol keeps going back to her, trying to keep her company so she can confort her AND herself in those dark times

and as time passes, they get to know the other a little better. carol tells her about how she loves dogs but can’t have any bc her family is allergic, or about this cool hairy parasite she found once, or about her best friend filia. patricia is nowhere near as talkative but carol still manages to piece together what she can about marie. they find if only a little comfort in each other during the darkest moment of their lives to date (and despite still not being over marie by a long shot patricia catches herself having feelings for carol because she’s so sweet and nice and funny and aaaaaaAAAA-). in the end, all they have to remember the other is their names

then they get separated, and it’s a while before they see each other again. and then they meet again as peacock and painwheel, but they don’t recognize each other (they act and sound different, and they never got a good look at each other back then, and neither trusts the other well enough to use their real names in front of). peacock won’t stop teasing Painwheel and Painwheel has an awful time trying to trust anyone related to the ASG labs even though lab 8 is nothing like lab 0

and then they start warming up to each other. peacock insists painwheel watches annie with her after realizing she’s never seen the show. painwheel fawns over what a cute parasite avery is (and avery grumbles but doesn’t do anything because he liked being scratched much to peacock’s amusement). sometimes at night they escape into the city and jump/fly between the buildings just to get away from the lab for a few hours. they get to know each other better and warm up to each other step by step until eventually their real names slip out and peacock realizes painwheel is carol and painwheel realizes peacock is patricia and they avoid each other for like a week because they’re still screaming internally about it aaaaaa

- peacock loves coloring and drawing. after showing off her skills and making painwheel a couple of pictures, she eventually convinces her girlfriend to join in. painwheel ends up loving it

- painwheel is flirtatious on accident. she ends up complimenting pea so bluntly and honestly that it leaves the ASG a flustered mess. painwheel is oblivious how forward she actually is

- peacock: why would ya want to do anything with me

Peacock didn’t have emotions, it was a known fact. She cares about two things, cartoons and lab 8, and that’s pushing it. She was wired to kill and she does so even when unprompted. She was twisted to the point where the idea of romance was for the clowns on tv.

Then Jazz Hands brought that broad into the lab, and it was like her entire world was flipped on it’s head.

She didn’t have a crush, it’s just that when Painwheel smiled at her she felt her world get brighter and the butterflies in her stomach started throwing up glitter. That’s normal, right?

The idea of being with another person never crossed her mind until now, because that required sharing. Peacock hated sharing. But every time she did some of her favorite things all she could imagine was how fun it would be if Painwheel was there to enjoy it by her side. She wants to paint the town red then make her the queen.

She thought about what it would be like on a date with her. What kind of dates would she like, cheap ones or classy ones? She wondered what is would be like to wrap her arms around her so tightly and so full of genuine love it pushes all of the sadness and anger out of her body. She imagined what it would look like, the two of them holding hands. Her small, perfect hands would look odd in Peacock’s weird mickey mouse gloves, but they wouldn’t care.

Thoughts she kept to herself, late at night. 3 am to be exact. Peacock looked up at the ceiling as she slowly realized that no, this wasn’t normal. But was it really that bad? Being in..the l word, with Painwheel? She should say it out loud. That would help the weight of her secret off of her shoulders.
