Lost in Black Yellow and Red
Day 3
This day is what i call the day to admire the history of Belgium day. I woke up a bit late and tried to find a place to have my breakfast. I managed to end up in this good Eatery & Drinkery that serves awesome breakfast or brunch or snack whatever you want to call them check out their FB page here Peck 47. A good set of choices for coffees and awesome teas, savory waffles and the lot. the poached egg was the best part because i love an egg for my morning (see the video here #perfectlypoachedegg) and since bacon is my second god, of course i ordered the ones with it - chorizo and goat cheese waffle (picture 5). Flavors will explode in your mouth once the Hollandaise sauce hits your tongue. I can’t help but order another set of latte as i enjoy munching on hot waffles with bacon and egg. Oh, the chorizo is cooked with the waffle and it is just pure heaven. I would like to order and try their tea or juice drinks but i don’t think my stomach would agree. I have been experiencing some mixed emotions that day. Down and low i try to find what will be the best source to make my day fruitful. Good thing is that i was invited to do a little bit of exploring in the city with one of the most respectable family i have known for a while. He offered to go and see the The Cathedral of Saints Michel and Gudula but first, we took a quick bite plus some beer from a French-Belgian fusion restaurant called Drug Opera. Ok the name is weird; true, but i think it is because the location is near the opera house. He mentioned that trying out Croque Monsieur or Croque Madame (picture6) is a good snack to have in the center. This is in simple term, grilled ham & cheese sandwich. So what’s the difference? it’s a French term: Croque = crunch (NOTE TO SELF: if you want to impress someone, say that you’re gonna make them one of these and pretend it’s your own invention) and it’s monsieur or madame depending on how you like your sandwich. Monsieur (Mister) - plain grilled sandwich; Madame (Miss) - with 2 fried eggs on top. With our beer on the side, we dived into this sexy dish as we talk bout life and the challenges that it continuously give us to solve. You see friends, i grew up without a father but i’m thankful for my mom who sacrificed a lot for me and my older sister to grow up with whilst learning how not to hold grudge to anyone around us. (to our dad for example). Respect the people even though they wronged us and love those who we think are worthy - Unconditionally without expecting anything in return. I’m blessed this way and i pay it forward whenever i can. Reason why i salute this father figure i’m having the grilled sandwich with. We are not rich and that’s why i learned how to be happy with what i have as much as possible. Only now that i’m old enough and earning to buy my own things that i appreciate material things I’ve never had before. I don’t find that a loss but instead something i can be proud of because i learned how to put value on material and non-material things. Putting aside the drama, we went to the The Cathedral of Saints Michel and Gudula afterwards. If you’ll notice from the outside (bottom picture) it resembles the Notre dam in France with its structure minus the gargoyles. Entering the church will give you a solemn ambiance. Quiet, a little chilly since the ceiling is so high. The stained glass is one of its attraction as well as this dark wooden Gothic podium (picture 3). I believe there are dead bodies buried below the church foundations because you can see some skeletons in some of the glass covered floors. it was a remarkable experience for me that i forgot that i’m having a bad mood. The Grenzing great organ’s design is spectacular (picture 7). The day ended with a lot of appreciations hoping that it will happen again; this time in a different place and more new dishes. We bid farewell to each other after quite some time since it’s getting late and the Belgium vs Sweden football match is starting soon (Congratulations Belgium). As i continue to walk home after buying beers for the upcoming match, i just thought how lucky some of us are to have those people who loves us by our sides and will remain there for us. Lucky are those who have everything whenever they want to. lucky are we all that we have this privileges big and small; pay it forward. Friends, Life doesn’t always end up the way we want to. There will be hell lots of challenges that will happen along the way. You might get tired of all and try to let go and give up, but it thought me a different thing. It doesn’t have to go to waste. You can still use whatever you have left and give it all. Who knows what might happen if you stay strong and keep on standing?
Special thank you to O. Högström for this unforgettable day.

We got dinner at a café called Peck 47 and had some BOMB food (which we were too excited about to even pause and photograph) and Moscow Mules (so refreshing - did pause for photograph).
