New Job

Yesterday was my first day of work as an RN in a pediatric office! I meant to post a little blurb about how it went but I was so tired and zonked out at 9 o'clock last night.

Basically this is the best first nursing I could have asked for! I'm an anxious and introverted person, but I love kids. This week will be a slight learning curve having to be super peppy all day long with parents (when babysitting I only have to deal with them for 10min lol) and teenagers (who scare me and put me on edge lol).

I'll keep you posted along the way and share and funny or embarrassing moments!

First week of work

So I have officially finished my first week of work as a nurse. My pediatric office is great! Some of the coworkers who do the training aren't too great at teaching, but oh well. I've made it through the roughest parts! My NCLEX is on Wednesday and I'm shaking in my pants. I have job security no matter the results this time around though.

I like working in a pediatric office, but it definitely isn't my dream job. A stepping stone to NICU.

My favorite appointments are sick visits (literally the only time we use critical thinking in this position here) and 2 month old well visits. Believe it or not with me wanting to be a NICU nurse the first newborn well visits aren't my favorite. The only reason for this is the parents lol. They either come to the visit unprepared with no info we need or they are new parents so everything is scary for them and a constant reassurance orrrr they want to tell me the entire birth story which of course I'd love to hear but don't have time for and can't interrupt them.

All in all, I feel happy and blessed with my job. Next week, once it's been some time removed, I'll start sharing some funny stories with you guys. 😁

Ahhh!

I start my nursing career in one week and I don't even have a sit/pass date for NCLEX lol! Nervous, anxious, excited, and ready all at the same time!
