Do you know WHO The Genealogy Investigator is and what I do? I was recently asked to share my story with Voyage Ohio Magazine as a way to highlight Genealogy as a profession and share more about the person behind the Genealogy stories. I am a Family Historian, jumping back in time, researching and reporting on a family story that depends on chronological and linear narratives. I work backwards in time, gathering information... names, births, deaths, marriages... trying to identify the family link, paying attention to how the story unfolds, capturing the angles as they present themselves, figuring out the historical context and significance of the events in time and reporting back to my clients with a personalized research report and a really cool presentation they can share with my findings in a visual format. I never know what I might discover in my research or what document might show itself for the first time... uncovering an ancestors past can be full of twists and turns, especially when you add the layer of history to their trials and tribulations. My passion for family history goes beyond just curiosity... I love helping clients uncover their families past, giving them a glimpse into where their ancestors lived, what they did, how many children they reared, how they migrated, and giving them a chance to "walk" among them and see the world through their ancestors eyes.
