I’m trying to write my own fanfics !! That’s alll Byeee

IM SO HONOURED SOMEONE WOULD ASK ME THIS🙏

When I’m writing, I write down the scenes I want to include in that chapter first, then add descriptions and dialogue to fill in the gaps. That’s how I construct the plot.

I try to use a lot of descriptive language, especially when I’m moving into a flashback or emotionality heavy scene.

Also everyone has their own writing styles, wording choices, perspective, language and expression make up a persons writing style

Personally, I’ve been reading fanfiction for a few years now, and I’ve found tropes and styles that I like to read the best. I definitely take inspiration from some of my favourite authors and fics

The best advice I can give is, just read fanfiction🤷

Find authors with styles you enjoy, and incorporate their writing characteristics into your own writing.

Mischaracterisation is the biggest issue I have as a writer. But again, all I do to fix it is go back to my favourite fics and imitate the personality written.

Don’t get me wrong, copying isn’t okay, but learning from other writers is a great thing! I’m still learning and figuring out my own personal styles too.

I also reread my fics a lot before posting them, so I can edit and change anything I don’t like anymore.

I kinda just write what I hyperfixate on, unless it was requested but even then, I still get into the ideas.

Being interested in the characters and ideas helps me write smoothly. The more I write, the more my brain just fills in the next scenes.
