Peludas, also known as La Velues, are a genus of two-headed dracosaur that share a common ancestor with all dragons. However, despite this, they are not true dragons, much like how pterosaurs are not dinosaurs. To a layman, the distinction between a dragon and a peluda is negligible, and many non-dracosaur sophonts will refer to peludas as dragons, much to the annoyance of the peludas.
Peludas have two heads and three brains, with one brain at the base of their neck that holds their memories and conscious and performs bodily function, while the brains in their heads process sensory input and give short-term thoughts. Peludas are considered to be one individual per body and have one name, though the two heads are unable to fully work together in the moment without communication and may sometimes argue.
Peludas first began to evolve around the time of the enormous dragon species boom, though the arcane radiation that created the thousands of species of dragon did not bring peludas as much luck. They have only one body morph, being a wingless body with four legs. All peludas have venomous quills on various parts of their bodies, and are typically much smaller than many species of dragon, with none of them getting any larger than a person.
All peludas, like dragons, are sophonts, and are just as intelligent as dragons and humans. Due to being smaller, they are much more widespread than dragons, though they are not nearly as populated. Most peludas prefer living in swamps or around brackish water, feasting on the swamp grasses and plentiful fish and frogs that are cultivated in their homelands. Peludas are only found on the western continent.
