I still think the only reason their reunion in the third act has been left behind the scenes is sheer emotions it would've evoked in the young readers... I know I would've bawled my eyes out reading about Screwbolt, hands trembling, hurriedly releasing his friend from captivity, being unable to contain his excitement and hugging him so tightly, and both of them just being so joyous and relieved that they're alive and well and together
