Hey Jack! I just spent a good half an hour trying to map out how the choices books connect to each other 😅 but I wanted to know your thoughts on the Endless Summer-Hero-Across The Void connection! Especially the big tie-in with ES and Hero 😊

Honestly I’m gonna go with multiverse theory. It’s a bit lazy and not at all as in-depth as you might be wanting from me but if you want something more in depth it would have to wait until I replayed Hero and ATV, since it’s been a hot minute since I played either of them.

Specifically the multiverse theory that one decision spreads off and creates parallel worlds, which would explain the root connection of the crystals/species or whatever it was -- really it’s been a LONG time since I played the latter 2 -- but with different events occurring around them rather than all of them possibly happening in the same universe but having to work out the sequencing of them.

Especially if you take into account the fact that you could potentially change the world in ES to go with Rourke’s plan -- because that in and of itself is a parallel universe with some slight changes due to the choices created around one or more individuals. 

On that note it would have been cool to see that be the only option and then have an ES4 where you gotta put shit right but I also don’t think my feels could have handled it.

He’s diplomatic and smiling to the press talking about how excited he is for this opportunity but he also definitely kissed Blaine on the roof because fuck that noise this bitch can’t tell me shit about who I am... but also definitely had a young romance with Tatum that was wrenched away from him when Tatum went off to join the army. They tried to keep in touch but it faded after time and he assumed his feelings would, too, but they did in fact not my good sir.

So I’m playing both of their routes right now. I’m playing a solely gay!MC for right now -- I love Ayna she’s gorgeous but I wanna do this for myself since I haven’t gotten a m!MC in fucking years right now??

I have my reservations about FA as a whole because yup it’s definitely one big political scandal romance trope book and a lot of shit is totally predictable (like who Blaine is obv and etc) but also sometimes you just gotta lean into the trope and enjoy yourself a little bit. I’m just glad to finally have a romance trope I can enjoy as an m!MC, something I haven’t done since goddamn Passport to Romance which I shamelessly loved fight me on it.

I wasn’t really a fan of the beginning where we couldn’t even defend ourselves properly, even though they make it out through internal monologue like you might be able to, but I get why that was done the way it was. It also says “hey this is definitely gonna be a book where no matter how many choices you make you’re gonna end up in a political scandal and your mom will probably show up extremely disappointed in you and you get the choice to tell her politely or rudely that she can fuck off and you’ll love who you want.” or something to that effect.

I really wanna know the drama between Rutherland and Ardona. Because 1. Rutherland ain’t even on that map at the end so... uhm... explain PB explain. and 2. they make such a big deal about this national rivalry but they don’t go into the why so I’m really hoping the hype is worth it.

Also... PB I demand Blaine in braces pictures please and thanks.

Honestly the most disappointing thing is that m!Blaine doesn’t have chest hair if you pick the one with the mop top dark hair. He looks like the kind of man who needs chest hair. I’m gonna make that happen.

I also hope this isn’t like MTFL where we have Tatum as a childhood best friend but... never get any flashbacks towards their childhood growing up. I need more backstory on that and I’m ashamed to say it but because Tatum is solely male I bet... we’ll probably get it. As opposed to Ayna details or etc. Because PB is nothing but predictable.

Overall I enjoyed it, I like the diplomacy thing though I could go for more than 2 options like they used to when mediating circumstances, and I like the LIs because I’m going into it knowing I’m not gonna get more than mushy heart feels out of this book. But I can finally play a new m!MC and that’s so important for me right now.

I cannot physically gesture hard enough to the 10-ish chapters and 20-25k words I wrote for book 4 that did not get used because the third arc gave me so much shit. it is nothing in final product like it was in development. saying they are similar or were once one in the same is like saying we are similar to the fish that first crawled on land

8. which fic this year was most fun to write?

I’m a sucker: Bound by Choice. I got to wrap up the biggest surprise/secret/mystery/untold story in the Oblivionverse at the time. What happened to Cynbel has been the thing hanging over every plot since book 1 and finally getting to bring it all together while setting up a lot of thick drama for book 4 was, och, chef’s kiss
