Working with volunteers from the Wildlife Trust South and West Wales, and the Penparcau Community Forum, to clear scrub from the ruins of a farmhouse on Pen Dinas.  We are hoping the lizards and slow worms will continue to be able to use the large stones to bask on this summer.  This kind of habitat improvement work is vital to stop the open area being lost under a blackthorn thicket.  A big thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their Sunday morning.

Here’s a short film about the COBWEB work I did last summer, testing a wildlife recording app in Penparcau as part of a citizen science project.  I’ll be running it again this summer, looking forward to seeing all the improvements in place.  We are testing the app for 3 outcomes:   can we use it to validate a pollinator resource map of the area;  can we investigate the influence of micro-climate on butterfly activity and can we provide information on the health of a habitat to inform better land management for our area.
