If there’s one thing in the world that Penny is truly terrified of, it’s cats. Most people don’t understand; how can you be afraid of something so cute and fluffy? But in Penny’s eyes, they are nothing but tiny nightmares, with big teeth and sharp claws ready to pounce on her at any moment. This makes going outside a very difficult task for the girl sometimes, because where do cats like to be most? Outside, roaming the city. When she spots one, across the street, she stops walking exactly where she is, eyes widening and biting hard on her bottom lip to control her nerves. Her fingers are shaking, itching to grab onto something for protection. But she can’t. She’s surrounded by people, but she’s completely alone. She just needs someone to shoo the thing off, or guide her past, but, she’s all alone.

It was too much a bright day for her to stay inside. Walking around with her uniform stuck to her figure, she decided to skip the last two hours of school –not that home economics was much of a subject that she enjoyed. Stretching her arms up, she looked to see if there was anything interesting lying about, waiting to be found by her. When nothing grabbed at her, she resumed her walk, enjoying the warm spring air around her. Summer was just around the corner and she's considering a trip to Jeju with her parents, though she doubts she can tag along. Eyes spotting a small kitten on the side of the road, she approached it excitedly –but it ran across the street. Trying to contain her pent up energy, she casually walked across the street before finding the cute fluff-ball curling near a girl who stood frozen. Crouching near the kitten and almost forgetting that he was wearing a skirt, she pat the creature softly on its head. Looking up, she found the girl from earlier looking aghast. "Hi," she swallowed, "you don't mind me crouching near you, do you?"

It’s been a long day, Penny sighs with relief, as she’s free from work for the afternoon. She moves down the street with only a small spring in her step, worn out from the day, but glad to be getting home. Humming a tune as she walks, she pushes her hair back out of her face with one hand, rubbing her temples. Spotting a bench, she reroutes, taking a seat and leaning back. It’s a lonely day today, she can feel it. She had texted a few friends, but no replies. Was her phone broken or was everyone avoiding her? She bites hard on her bottom lip. A long day indeed.

Sojin hadn’t realized until after she left for Daegu just how much she took trees for granted. Back home, they had always just been there, along the road as she walked to the market, or shading her from the sun when she went outside to do schoolwork. When she came to Seoul, the first thing she noticed (after the very loud noise of traffic and the massive crowds of people) was that it was devoid of trees. The park became somewhat of a refuge for her, since it was the only place in the entire city that reminded her of the scenery back at home. Whenever she wanted some lush greenery (which was often) she always wandered over here.

Unfortunately, she had been having less and less time to do so, with her training and all. But she had found time during the weekend, and found herself coming back here. Sojin looked beside her when another girl came to sit next to her on the bench. “It’s a pretty day, isn’t it?”

Working in a bar, even a family bar, isn’t the most glamorous of jobs. The kids throw up as much as the drunks, and they definitely spill their drinks at least enough or possibly even more, and every time, Penny is the one sent to clean it up. There’s a drawback in being the youngest of the team and Penny thinks this is it, as she heads out in her break to stand in the fresh air in front of the bar, wiping the remains of someone’s lager on the apron wrapped around her waist. Her hands are sticky, but what’s the point in cleaning them? She already had another spill waiting for her when she went back in in twenty minutes. She doubts anyone will clear it up while she’s gone. But somehow, Penny loved her job — loved how simple it was, how nice her coworkers could be, the pay, for sure, was a perk, too. It’s not all bad, she supposes, kicking at the floor with a small smile.

She promised a friend to meet up here, this bar that she rarely frequented. Despite getting lost along the way, Minji still managed to arrive on time, since she left her house rather early. She targeted a spot at the far end of the bar with a drink in hand but some drunkard crashed into her before she could even sit down. The impact sent her glass crashing to the floor and attracted the attention of other customers. Embarrassed, Minji bowed in apology before frantically searching for napkins to clean up the mess. She most likely had to pay for the broken glass even though it was technically not her fault. The drunk man had already got away. Besides, Minji did not want to deal with him, he was too drunk to even apologize.

Sohyun checked her phone in the backseat of the car as her parents talked in the front seats. She had just uploaded a video to youtube the night before and she was, as always, reading the comments. She usually didn’t have time to reply to all of them, but she made sure to read them and get criticism from them. She heard her mother ask her something, but was too concentrated on the comments to understand what. “Huh? Sorry, mum, I didn’t get that.” She said apologetically as she looked up at her mother’s reflection in the rearview mirror. “Yes, mum, of course I’m excited to see Sanghyun! I miss him too, you know.” She replied in a slightly annoyed tone. “I was just checking my phone.” She ended in a murmur, more to herself than her parents. 

They shortly arrived at the restaurant, a nice little bar her brother had suggested because they knew him there and didn’t make a big fuss about him being a pro soccer player or ask him for autographs or anything like that. Sohyun had never been there, but she imagined that if her brother liked it, she would probably like it too, because Sohyun and Sanghyun were so much alike in practically everything. It was a bit eerie sometimes how much they had in common, despite the four year age gap and everything. 

The bar looked nice and cosy, and it smelled delicious, which made Sohyun’s mouth water the moment she stepped in. Her brother hadn’t arrived yet, so they were sat at a table for four in one of the corners of the place. As they waited for Sanghyun, a nice waitress came up to them to ask for their drinks and Sohyun ordered a diet coke -not because she was on a diet or anything, but because she liked the taste better- and sat there looking around the place as she waited.
