Bruce is only crazy when divested of fellow heroes. In a world with a rich history of people putting on masks and capes and fighting/perpetrating crime, Batman is just one guy in a long line of similarly themed crusaders and spandex may as well be a stage of grief. Take all that away and make Batman the only guy in a rubber bodysuit? Yeah; that guy's unwell.
The only way to get Batman right is to do it with earnestness and a straight face. You want to know which non-comic adaptations actually did it right? The 60s show, Superfriends, BTAS, and -I hate to say it- Snyderverse. You know what else they have in common? Gray bodysuits with blue-black capes and cowls.
The moment you stop apologizing for the costume or try to explain away the camp, when you don't try to hand wave that it's a military-grade stealth-ninja suit where everything's a knife and it makes you look jacked, and you're just fine with him wearing a silly caricature of a bat on his chest? That is when you win. That is when you understand.
This applies to Superman as well. Best live action? Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, Teen Wolf.. Smallville could have had it if not for their stubborn no capes rule.
Why did everyone lose their shit when Jackman came out in yellow and blue? Because that's how he's supposed to look. It's not goofy; it's camp and it's supposed to be there.
