Visions of Spring. I walked around the yard yesterday and got some signs that Winter is fading. The long empty Peony bed with shots of new growth. Fresh buds on one of the lilacs. The remains of last year’s Hazelnut tree, hanging in formation. Speaking of the Peony row I’ve been working on, this is a Japanese Peony Tree. Just having the buds forming. It’s very woody. The flowers are like 8” across. Average about 20 per season. They do last longer than the others but don’t have that prominent smell. I have broken my share of branches in these last 29 yrs.
