Oscars Fan Experience.
Last weekend I had the pleasure of sitting in the bleachers on the red carpet at the 86th Academy Awards. It. Was. Frickin'. Awesome! If you know me at all you know there are a few things I luuuuv: sports, fashion, celebrities and movies! So this experience was right up my alley!
When I first received the congratulatory email from People Magazine, I thought it was a scam -- I almost deleted it! Thank goodness I came to my senses. Friday night, my friend Jamie and I, took off for sunny not so sunny when we were there LA!
We spent Saturday exploring Beverly Hills and Disneyland, obvi, but then it was time for the big day! Our arrival time was 8:30 a.m. When we arrived we received our credentials and gift bags! Holla. Then it was time for hair and makeup.
People, CoverGirl, Olay and Pantene were sponsors of the day and they really outdid themselves. Even though we had to arrive so early in the day there was never a dull moment. The hair and makeup booths were a blast. They also provided manicures and massages. Breakfast was brought to us by The Coffee Bean -- sooooo LA -- and we were given a delicious boxed lunch. But, the real fun started at 3!
That's when the clouds parted, the sun came out and stars began to arrive! The first big nominee we spotted was Amy Adams, but from then on it was chaos.
The coolest part of the whole experience, besides being so close to people I never thought I'd see in person, was seeing how they interacted with each other! It was exciting to see who was friends with whom and who wanted to take selfies with each other.
Everyone was obviously gorgeous. So much prettier and skinnier than they appear in movies -- if that's even possible. Jessica Biel's skin? Flaw. Less. Seriously. Anna Kendrick? Tiny. You could put her in your pocket. Brad and Angie? So gorge. And I don't even like Angelina!
Jennifer Lawrence grabbed Chris Hemsworth's wife's belly full of twins. Jason Sudeikis whispered something into fiancé Olivia Wilde's ear. Leonardo DiCaprio wanted a photo with Jamie Foxx. So many moments you don't get to see on TV.
Big shout out to Matthew McConaughey -- not only did he snag the Best Actor statue (Dallas Buyers Club was amazefest USA) -- but he was also the only star who hopped the velvet ropes to shake hands with all the fans in the bleachers!
After the carpet cleared off we were escorted across the street to the El Capitan Theater for the #PeopleVIPs viewing party. The catered dinner was delish! Especially the ice cream bar!! It was a neat experience to watch the show with 700 other people who love movies and celebrities. Everyone was clapping and shouting out who they thought would win. It made the broadcast go by so fast.
All in all it was a once in a lifetime experience and something I'll never forget! Hopefully People doesn't have a rule that you can only win once because I definitely want to enter again and go back.
