Review:
This is a retelling of the bard’s famous “Romeo & Juliet” and in my opinion a better story than the original! The novel details how two classmates go on a twitter war on behalf of their respective families fast food restaurants.
This book was one of the cutest that I’d ever read. I had a cheeky smile on my face from start to finish. It had such an interesting premise and more than lovable cast of characters. Moreover, the writing is really good and well-paced so it kept me engaged with the story from start to end.
Y’all might wonder why not a 4 or 5 star rating if I found it this good, what did I not like about the novel? Short answer, is nothing really! I don’t usually give fluffy contemporaries a 5 star rating unless they hit me right in the feels or a 4 star rating unless they manage to pull both a smile and make me shed a few happy tears. Maybe, this novel’s only flaw is that it was too darn cute, it made me smile the whole way through. Nevertheless, it was truly an entertaining read, and much better retelling of Romeo & Juliet than the original story.
Another note! I read this book via audiobook, and it was beyond entertaining and highly recommend consuming this story via that medium if you’re able.
Another great 2020 debut, I can’t wait to read more from this author. I highly recommend this novel for a fluffy (summer) feel good read!

Tweet Cute was such a fun book to listen to! It's an adorable romantic comedy with a dash of sass, and the narrators for the audiobook version I listened to (Dan Bittner and Emily Shaffer) were a wonderful fit for their characters.
Pepper Evans is the Nashville-born daughter of a fast-food franchise (Big League Burger) CEO. Jack Campbell is the New York native next in line to inherit his family's deli (Girl Cheesing). When Big League Burger releases a new menu item that is suspiciously similar to a prominent menu item at Girl Cheesing, Jack tweets about it to blow off some steam. What he doesn't realize is that his tweet is going to go viral, sparking a brutal Twitter war and eventually a beautiful relationship.
I've been reading some pretty heavy stuff for my English classes this semester, so this cute romantic comedy was just what the doctor ordered. Though the story was fun too, my favorite aspect of Tweet Cute had to be the characters—especially Pepper and Jack, though some of the side characters, like Paul, cracked me up too. I absolutely loved that Pepper and Jack had lives outside of each other and outside of school. They had fears, insecurities, hopes, and so much more that didn't necessarily have to have something to do with each other. They felt real, which isn't always the case with young adult romantic comedies.
If you like a dash of sass with your young adult romance, a classic Twitter feud, and goofy moments, this is definitely the book for you!
Trigger Warnings
LGBTQ+ side characters (Ethan and Steven)
occasional strong language (including one f-bomb)
references to underage drinking (beer)
references to drugs (pot)
references to underage smoking
i like to think pepper & jack have really common taste in music like taylor swift or harry styles and famous love songs in general but their romance is so unique and cheesy and it doesn’t fully reflect on their music tastes <3
this playlist sums it up !
