The early morning winds rustled through the trees as you found your seat on the bench right outside the training grounds. You would never admit it, but you secretly enjoyed watching them spar.
It was never your intention to end up in the support course, but by the time you had applied, the hero course was full. You always told yourself you would go back later on, but you knew that the possibility was slim.
Usually, UA wouldn't place people into other programs, but when they'd seen all of your tech work at such a young age, they decided to invite you to study making suits. It's not like you weren't happy, but a small part of you still wished you had just applied earlier.
Not everyone fulfills their dreams, though.
You pull yourself from your thoughts when you see Kirishima walk into the battlefield, donning his brand new suit that had taken you about a week of steady work to get right. It may not look sleeker, but it'll be easier to fight in for now.
Walking right beside him was Bakugo, who looked less excited to be there than you did. You hoped more than anything that you would prove him wrong with the changes that you'd made to Kirishima's suit.
You sank back into your seat, ready to watch how your gear performed.
-----
Training had ended almost thirty minutes ago, and now the students were receiving instruction from Aizawa. You were about to stand up to leave when you heard a familiar voice call your name.
You turned, met with a smiling Kirishima as he jogged over to you. He looked tired, but was his happy self nonetheless. You smiled, waving back
"Hey! You did good out there,"
He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. Your smile faltered when you caught sight of Bakugo, walking a couple feet behind him.
"Thanks, but I should give most of the credit to you. Your tweaks made hand-to-hand so much easier."
You swatted at him, rolling your eyes.
"Please, my equipment wouldn't do anything if you couldn't fight. It's just an assist."
"Well, the assist helps a lot."
You can't even try to hide your smile at that.
"I'm glad to hear that it helps."
Kirishima's smile only seems to grow wider, and he nods. Realization flashes over his face when he sees Bakugo standing next to him.
"Oh! I never introduced you. This is Katsuki Bakugo, the friend I always talk about."
You should've seen that coming.
You muster a small smile, bowing as you mumble a greeting. All he gives in return is a "hmph," nodding his head.
You're about to speak up again when Mr. Aizawa yells something at the kids, and he turns to retreat. Kirishima smiles apologetically, yelling a goodbye as he chases after him.
You let out a sigh of relief, thanking your lucky stars that Aizawa got their attention before he could insult your work again.
As you turn to walk away, you can only think to yourself 'Thank god I don't have to work with him.'
super short part!! but it's okay I just needed to get this out there.
synopsis: you’re a support course student assigned with modifying Bakugou’s hero suit. Unfortunately for you, he seems more than fine with you getting a zero.
