RIP testpilot Charles “Chuck” Yeager - 1923-2020... he’ll be missed! On October 14, 1947 testpilot Charles Yeager became the first human to break the sound barrier... He wore a Rolex Oyster wristwatch onboard the rocket-powered Bell X-1 which bore the name “Glamorous Glennis” as Yeager adored his wife! Ever since, Charles Yeager wore Rolex pilot watches, as in this August 1961 photo with female aviation pioneer Jacqueline Cochran, with a Rolex GMT-master 6542 on his wrist near a T-38 Talon at Edwards AFB. As a 2nd Lt student-pilot I read " The Right Stuff " and saw the movie several times... also devoured Yeager's autobiography and his Quest to Mach One book. Let's never forget he was truly the greatest pilot we ever saw... RIP (Photo: USAF/AP)
