He surprised the both of them when he hugged her tightly, his heart squeezing painfully. He didn’t want her to go. He understood how she felt when he left those years back and he knew in some way, this was payback. But in reality, he was terrified something would happen to her. She was a strong girl, she can handle herself, Manfred raised them to be tough. However, he didn’t want her to be alone again. He regretted it the first time --given, he had no choice. He couldn’t genuinely part from her. They had an unbreakable bond, no matter the distance or time, hence why it pained them to leave each other. ❝ Franziska, please, promise me you’ll stay safe. ❞ He told her, then pulled back. ❝ If you ever need me, you know where to find me. ❞ He said before leaning down to kiss her forehead. He was being oddly affectionate for some apparent reason and he prayed she wouldn’t whip him for this.

Like I’ve said before, I heard Manfred and Miles were a thing and I just. Straight no. He’s tainted my baby enough as it is. That and c’mon, really? He doesn’t care about Miles like that, or in any way really. He took Miles out of revenge, to get back at Gregory. He molded Miles to take after him and not his father. He doesn’t seem to have a caring bone in his body. He doesn’t genuinely care for Miles and what happens to him. -LIES DOWN- WHAT HAPPENED

((Well, basically, Manfred and his first wife divorced. It was really messy and Manfred ended up getting full custody of the children through his own efforts. Maria still remembers her mother begging to have Franziska in court and her father not even reacting. Maria doesn’t remember her mother as a perfect woman but she never saw her as such a bad person that she could never see her children again.

After Manfred remarried Maria was forbidden to talk about their birth mother on pain of punishment, and any trace of the woman was removed from the house. She was never told why and now she still has no idea, and when Franziska started calling her stepmother “mother” she was too afraid to say anything.

Maria has tried to locate her birth mother but can’t seem to find any current records of her.))

It was rare for them to see each other express such emotion and fear. Though, it wasn’t out of distrust. It was mostly due to the fact they were taught to stay strong and to never show any signs of emotion or vulnerability. So when Edgeworth heard Franziska crying from the next room, he dropped what he was doing and just about raced to her. Spotting the tears and the way she trembled, his heart nearly stopped. He hated to see her cry ---not because he didn’t have sympathy, but because it was painful to see. She always held up a tough facade, much like he did, and watching it crumble away, --while he was glad she trusted him-- it still hurt him to see it.  He hugged her tightly in return as he listened to her, fighting off the wave of emotions, but he struggled. The idea of losing one another was terrifying to the both of them, they couldn’t be without each other. They were all they had left.  ❝ It was just a nightmare, Franziska. I’m not going anywhere. I... I’d never leave you like that. Ever. I promise. ❞
