📝 //lmao let's see chrom's diary bc i'm terrible and im 99% sure it's just about phoenix in latest entries
[ The pages are printed with a crisp stroke of a blue quill. The handwriting, however, leaves a lot to be desired. ]
I personally think addressing this as “diary” is pointless. If I know my Shepherds as well as I think I do, I realize that it’s only a matter of time before they infiltrate my quarters and make the contents of this account widely known. In preparation for a Shepherd doing that, I have addressed this correctly as “comrade”. Eavesdropper or not, you are still in our group, and, a comrade to our cause.
If you so happen to be Gaius, I’ve hidden a candy on Page 26, marked courtesy of Frederick. And Vaike, please don’t slice this in half with your axe. Frederick checks to make sure I enter an entry AND that my diary is intact.
[ Scrawled in the margins, in two different sorts of handwriting entirely, you can see “Found it, Blue!” and “How’d ya know!?” are written. ]
Anyways, I suppose I should start writing our latest victory. We’ve felled Walhart’s capital and swayed another catalyst that would’ve ushered in Lucina’s future. I am heartened to report we recovered another gemstone as well -- we’ve only a single one left to go.
That is what worries me, comrade.
Make no mistake. Our fights were not done in light nor in jest. Life and limb were risked to earn each of our slim victories. And yet, I worry most about where our final gemstone is. According to the Voice, Tiki, the remaining stone was formerly the Darksphere 2,000 years ago -- and it rests in the palm of King Validar, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the assassin that pursued my sister’s life two years ago. He should be dead. Did the power of the Darksphere, held in Plegia, play any part in reviving him? If so, why is it that Gangrel remains dead? Would not Plegia be inclined to revitalize its former king, too?
I worry because not only are their motives shrouded in mystery, but of the threat they pose to my living loved ones. Plegia sentenced Emm to death, and I know that Lissa still grieves in her heart. Plegia’s triumphant bears an eerie resemblance to my tactician. I also fear that they will threaten the life of Phoenix, my dear friend -- or that of my children. It boils my blood to consider the atrocities Plegia is willing to bear if it kills us. They may have a source in hating us, but I will NOT allow them to harm those I care for.
This includes my Shepherds.
Spread word around, comrade who reads this. I don’t intend to walk into this trap blindly, nor will I allow Plegia its justice. I realize Ylisse owes her a great debt, but they’e going the wrong way of collecting. If King Validar threatens us, we will retaliate. I will not falter.
Comment in the margins if you so will. I have a lot more to add -- but I’ve need to spar now. And, well, to fix that vase I broke. Hey, comrade, are you good at repairing something that’s been broken into dozens on tiny, cracked pieces?
[ In the margins, handwriting so entirely perfect and pristine reads: “I’ve already cleaned those up, milord.” ]
