My husband is baking Quick After Battle Triple Chocolate Cake today, the day I finally got around to listening to the season 3 episodes I got access to for crowdfunding, so... you mention having read Dealing with Dragons as a kid. Did you ever read the short story collection Book of Enchantments by Patricia Wrede? The very last story in the book is one called Utensile Strength, which features a bake-off in the Enchanted Forest in order to find the rightful wielder of the Frying Pan of Doom. (The winner of the bakeoff is not the rightful wielder of the Frying Pan of Doom, but there's a recipe for the Quick After Battle Triple Chocolate Cake the winner makes in the back of the collection.)
Anyway, now I'm imagining Sig competing in this competition and getting annoyed about losing to a guy who mixes his cake batter in a helmet.
I actually have that book on my shelf right now! Here's the recipie for anyone that's curious about the context here:
And I have had the idea in the back of my head for ages to have Sig get to finally actually compete in the annual Solegard baking competition and deal with nonsense like that lol. I just need a good enough throughline. But I think he'd be soooo funny in a high stakes situation he actually cares about for a change.
I don't ever want to annoy Wolfythewitch with recommending my Magnus Archives inspired Rusty Quill podcast with the Pinay protagonist but I do hope one day if they end up looking into Hi Nay they see the toxic yaoi decapitation art because I worked very hard on it and I'm pretty proud of how it turned out
Anyway back to the horror podcast mines

Mystery Shack
What's a genre you never written but want to try?
Mystery!
But mystery requires careful planning, which... 🤯💀
This story our pastor told just amuses me to no end.
Apparently a nonbeliever believed so strongly in not believing that he had engraved on his tombstone ‘I will not be resurrected because I do not believe in it!’
Little did he know that when they were piling dirt on top of his coffin, an acorn fell in, and over the course of many years, said acorn grew into a tree and split that tombstone into pieces when it burst through the surface.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find that story online, but I did find one very similar, except this time it was a woman. Again, insisting on her non-belief on her tombstone and a tree bursting through over a period of time.
Honestly, honestly, honestly...
Man plans. God laughs. LOL.
