New permanent secretary for FCTA has been appointed by Tinubu
Four Permanent Secretaries have been appointed to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) by President Bola Tinubu. In a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, Mr. Anthony Ogunleye, Director of Press for the Office of the FCT Minister, revealed this. According to Ogunleye, the establishment of the Youth Development Secretariat and the impending retirement of two Permanent Secretaries made the appointments necessary. He named the appointees as Nancy Nathan from the Northeast, Rotimi Ajayi from the West, and Joy Okeke from the East. He continued by saying that Tinubu has also authorised the formalisation of the role of Solicitor General of the FCT Administration as Permanent Secretary of the Legal Services Secretariat and Solicitor General. The director announced that the appointees would be sworn in on Thursday, including Mr. Abdullahi Ango, the Mandate Secretary of the Youth Development Secretariat. FG declares Tuesday Oct.1 public holiday to mark 59th independence
The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, Oct.1, as public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 59th Independence Anniversary. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah, announced this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. She said the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola made the declaration on behalf of the federal government. The minister congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the commemoration of this year’s anniversary. He assured citizens of government’s commitment to end the current spate of insecurity in the country. According to him, peace and stability are necessary conditions for the development of any nation. Aregbesola, therefore, called on Nigerians to emulate the nation’s founding fathers in their love for fatherland. Aregbesola reminded Nigerians of the immense potential the country was endowed with, and assured that with commitment, “we can move the country to the next level of socio-economic development.” “As Nigerians, we should always remember that there is hope for our country and that we are blessed with human and natural resources, tourism, cultural diversity, selfless spirit of unity and love for one another. “As well as bonded brotherhood, all of which are potential we must exploit in the years ahead to make Nigeria the nation of our dreams,” he said. FG warns producers, marketers of chemical weapons
The Federal Government has cautioned producers and marketers of chemical weapons against allowing it into the hands of non-state actors. The Permanent Secretary, Political and Eonomic Affairs in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Gabriel Aduda, gave the warning at a sensitisation workshop in Kano on Tuesday. The workshop was organised by the federal government to educate major stakeholders in the North-West on sound management of chemicals as part of measures to prevent its getting into wrong hands. Aduda said the workshop was also aimed at promoting awareness and safety, by strengthening the understanding of stakeholders on proper handling of chemical and biological weapons. Aduda said chemical producers, marketers, transporters and users, as well as regulatory authorities involved in implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) participated in the workshop. “The objective among others is to raise awareness among relevant national stakeholders and representatives of the chemical industries in the North -West zone on the CWC and its national implementation in relation to the chemical industry. “Ensure that chemical weapons imported into the country are used for the purposes for which they are meant and government also makes sure that these chemicals do not get into the hands of non-state actors; it will have great repercussions,” he explained. Buhari sends NDDC board nominees to senate
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday appointed a 16-member new Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). In a statement in Abuja, Olusegun Adekunle, Permanent Secretary, General Services Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, noted that the appointment was subject to the confirmation of the appointees by the Senate. According to Adekunle, the Interim Management headed by Prof. Nelson Brambaifa has been directed to hand over to the most senior director in the commission. He said: “President Muhammadu Buhari, has, subject to Senate confirmation, approved the composition of the board of NDDC made up of the following persons. “Dr Pius Odubu from Edo State, Chairman of the Board, Bernard Okumagba from Delta, Managing Director, Mr Otobong Ndem, Akwa Ibom, Executive Director Projects. “Mr Jones Erue, representative of Delta, Chief Victor Ekhatar, represents Edo State. “Mr Maxwell Okoh from Bayelsa, Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Dr Joy Yimebe Nunieh, represents Rivers, Nwogu Nwogu represents Abia, Mr Theodore Allison represents Bayelsa, Mr Victor Antai represents Akwa Ibom, Mr Maurice Effiwatt represents Cross River. “Mr Olugbenga Elema represents Ondo, Mr Uchegbu Chidiebere Kyrian represents Imo, “Aisha Murtala Muhammed from Kano represents Northwest, Ardo Zubairu from Adamawa Northeast and Engr.
