“I was supposed to protect you...”

He knew he should have taken another job and not spent another few gold on another ticket of a performance he had seen just the night before. But though he was sure some of the songs might be the same, he couldn’t wait to hear the differences. Just one more performance and he’d be on his way.
There had been no music growing up. Chanting, prayers, a mere melody in the way things were said in a ritual or service. Nothing so beautiful as this. He had been adventuring for some years now, his twenty years in the Cult of Nuitari long behind him, but music never ceased to amaze him.
Perrin sat in the front row, unable to help his excitement. He decided he would want to meet her, if she would allow it and held a lavender rose during the performance to make himself known.

“It’s not the dancing... I rather like that. The music is good. Just...”
Perrin blushed slightly at the wink, then quickly focused back on the subject at hand and made an face, one that spoke of uncertainty and uncomfortableness. Was this normal?
“The grinding...”
He shrugged and shook his head. He’d only seen and been to a few festivals or dances round the campfire. Never participated. Never actually danced with a stranger before.
Kadyn was handsome. The same kind of flirtation and confidence that suddenly reminded him of Ris. Perrin took a deep breath, looking away. He forced a laugh out of himself.
“Any closer and they’ll have to pick out baby names soon, huh?”

Perrin looked up to the sky, but it was clear. A few clouds above but no sign of rain and definitely not storms ahead. Perrin shook his head to himself, glancing over at Tannith and smiled towards her.
“So am I.” He reached forward to the pot near their little campfire. It was always better to travel with company, even just one other. As much as he thought himself a danger, he couldn’t deny common sense.
“More venison stew?”
@not-your-chosen sent for Perrin...
❛ i had a lot of dreams about you recently. ❜
"Really?" Perrin didn't know what to make of that. His dreams were always... troubling. Rarely were they something to look forward to. Either they made no sense or if they did, they made him sad. Seeing people in them he knew he never would again. Either by death or design. His parents, his old friends. Ris.
"Something good, I hope...?"
Perrin was settling into his life as a knight, Sadiha's knight in their kingdom, and as a paladin. Though he still had no deity to speak of. He was unsure how to go about it. He was waiting to be spoken to. Like Nuitari had once spoken to him, before he was exiled and the dark god abandoned him. That had been a relief, more than anything.
@not-your-chosen sent from Sadiha...
❝ can you make everyone else just go away? i know they mean well but i just want to be alone— alone with you i mean. ❞
"Can--?" Perrin looked to the king, confused as to why she would ask him to do so when she could have easily... But he cleared his throat, giving a nod and did his best to catch the eye of one of the royal concubines. They had all become rather close friends in the past few weeks. They were good, loyal men. And they probably took pity on Perrin for being so clueless.
"Could we...?" He raised his eye brows, indicating that they should clear out.
@eclipsecrowned LIKED for a starter, for Mystery
"I'm sorry... You just-- You look like someone I know. Knew." Perrin corrected himself, the door of the apothecary slowly swinging shut behind him. The ring of a little bell indicating he had even entered pulled him out of his shock and he looked away, pretending to be interested in something on some shelf. He had felt tears fall before he even knew they were burning in his eyes. It was a feeling he was greatly used to.
"I was hoping you had something in the way of health potions?" He called, not venturing further into the shop just yet. He moved to push jet black hair from his face, using his thumb to wipe at his tears, then the back of his hand, hopefully in a manner that wouldn't give away what he was really doing. But his slight of hand was never very good.
Tieflings were not so rare an occurrence on his adventures, but this shop owner's resemblance to Ris was startling. An age that Ris never reached, because of Perrin. That was what cut him to the core so deeply as soon as he laid eyes on the other.
@wcnderiing sent from Corinne....
“My magic is useless against them. I’ve tried.“
"Okay, well... then... we'll try something else." Perrin nodded determinedly. He wasn't good at planning. He left that up to people far more intelligent than him and Corinne seemed like one of those kinds of people. She'd gone to magic college and all that, she'd said. Perrin's magic... was dangerous. And useless now anyway.
They had to figure out a way to save those people...
"Is there some kind of spell to... get rid of their magic? I mean if they're using magic to stop your magic? Does that make sense?"
