Gad-fucking-zooks, children! So last weekend I was showing a few dear friends and fellow 60's international tune enthusiasts the best record slop shop in all of Boston, Weirdo Records, and while perusing around Angela's finest of fine collections I came upon this gem. I mean, if I had a nickel for every so-so record I got from there that I thought was gonna be awesome, I'd have enough nickels to kill a calf. BUT....holy persian markets, batmen. This record moves.
So this woman, Zangoleah (the best artist on the whole comp) was not your average Iranian woman of the 60s. She played drums and sang in a pop band, for one, and dressed in the height of 60's mod fashion. This song floors it, unfortunately she doesn't sing on this one, but something tells me you're going to hear her best song "Wish Map" on here, soon.
So It's a collection of Iranian psych and garage, and it's just consistently outstanding. Angela was telling me that apparently a lot of the tracks on here haven't been released outside of Iran until hecka recently, and is pretty much only available here.
Rare blah blah exotic blah blah Iranian blah blah, whatever, IT'S FUCKING BRILLIANT.
