Did a small general economy/money reading for my family and friends...
Seems like we're getting an exaggerated amount of money on August 2025.
It ain't just us either.

You know how people have noticed that women in the american media/film/music industry who make it big and do a lot with their careers are only "allowed" to be successful for like. 5 years max? And then they suddenly are labelled cringy at (conveniently) the exact same time they start being slowly blocked out of projects and movies and awards even if they are the highest grossing entertainer in their category? Yeah so same thing happens with poc, lgbtq, and foreign artists and I personally think we are going to see another great example of that with what is going to happen to kpop in the next few years.
Right now it's not like kpop is experiencing popularity that's unheard of in the history of pop music—there's always been trends. It's more that they are bands of foreign poc appealing widely to women that are starting to take over a corner of the industry... and we all know that this won't be allowed to stand. Eventually you'll start to see popular media do the same thing to them that they did to people like taylor swift, britney spears, and whoopi goldberg—suddenly all their achievements are worthless, they're overrated and always have been, and they only appeal to teenage girls. This will be especially true for bands like bts, twice, blackpink, exo, and nct who either have a lot of recognizable awards/achievements or very active fanbases because they will be the most visible and influential targets. Newer bands (like stray kids or txt) that are also being pushed to market heavily to the west will then be cycled in, but will eventually end up in the same boat. And because of how extreme idol culture can be and because it's categorized as pop culture, I feel like kpop will be the first and easiest target BUT the same thing will eventually happen with all asian content (kdramas, webtoons, anime, etc). Right now there's a growing market for east asian media in the USA that's allowed to exist because of money. Once that cash cow has been milked for all it's worth, watch how it gets treated.
Now, this is just a personal prediction so don't take it super seriously. I haven't got a degree or anything it's just an observation that poc artists often seem to have an expiration date within the american media industry that white cis men don't. I'm not talking just about individuals, I'm talking about a pattern. I'm also not saying that this will spell the end of their careers so don't panic. These bands will still have a massive following worldwide regardless of whether or not american fans support them. And it's not like losing the support of the industry means losing the support of fans. Asian diaspora will probably still hold asian artists' achievements close to their heart and these already huge fanbases are unlikely to just disappear. But while american media is getting more progressive and appealing to wider audiences, it still likes to play the same old tricks when it can get away with it (just ask black artists, they pull this with them all the time). All I'm saying is that we need to watch out for the return of that same old mistreatment in the next 2-3 years when asian media starts to become "cringy" and "hard to understand" again.
