Last night I was sick and high and writing up my new business plan in bed. (I want to become a slightly Satanic queer dating coach.) Very clearly the phrase "researching my perverse fascinations, my perverse fascinations, my perverse fascinations" kept resounding in my head.
This morning, I continued listening to Devon Price reading Unmasking Autism and he said: "I often find my special interests are a perverse fascination with a person or movement I find morally abhorrent. Though others might find it disturbing to read, for example, transphobic blogs for hours on end, I've found that studying such subjects is empowering, and informative."
I will not comment on the utility of this book for high-masking autists.
But I will say that I STRONGLY relate to his perverse fascinations, as someone who has been reading Mormon Mommy blogs for the past 15 years.
(Literally some of the posts I have planned for my Satanic queer dating coaching website are called "What We Can Learn from Mormon Courtship Advice" and "What We Can Learn From Aspirational Shadow Work Cult Leaders on Instagram" etc etc etc.)
One of Devon's gifts to this world is that he writes researched, polished books, and is influencing The Conversation on neurodivergence and mental health, all while also publishing essays on hypno sissy porn and letting them be the number 2 search result when you googled his name for a while.
I love Devon on a freak4freak basis.
