˗ˏˋ *ㅤ★ㅤ‿︵ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤ𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 always happened in their line of work. Being pitted against GROWN ADULTS twice their age and height all for the sake of OTHER grown adults. This was nothing but an every day occurrence for them ( or at least, every day the Boss decided to pull them out of their cell for some reason or another ).

⊱ ★ ⊰ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤBut today, they find themselves having TROUBLE. It already took enough effort to break into the place and take what the Boss had wanted ( just more stupid grown up stuff that had nothing to do with them ). Yet, they find themselves CORNERED by gang members that they had obviously UPSET a great deal with their act of theft.

⊱ ★ ⊰ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤThey could just CURSE EVERYONE HERE. All it would take was spilling some of their own blood. It was always a pain to get themselves hurt — but if they could see the people that HURT THEM suffer and AVOID PUNISHMENT from the mafia, it was worth it.

⊱ ★ ⊰ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤBefore they or the other men could take any action though, they find a figure donning a FAMILIAR RED KIMONO obscuring their view of their would - be assailants.

Shirasu chuckles, charmed. What an idealist. "I'm honored you think so highly of me but I'm afraid I'm not quite so all knowing. There are many things in this world I know little of. what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

grief is the first emotion that comes to mind bc it's kind of what propels rin into the life she currently leads. i might go into better detail about this later, but rin had a twin brother who she lost as a young elf; the two of them were attacked on the way back from the city, and bryn died in the scuffle. when she returned home with his body, she wanted to go after the ones responsible, get justice for her brother, but her father and clan all disagreed. they felt for her, but how would they find these people? and what would they do if they found them? and the questions and reasons just kept on coming, and rin grew angrier, more determined to settle the matter on her own. so she did. she found and killed the man who killed her brother; it didn't make her feel any better, but she didn't feel bad about it, either. but rin never got over her brother's death, and she simply locked away that chapter of her life instead of properly dealing with it. going by " pickle o'brien " was as much a joke as it was a way to adopt a new identity where she wasn't a grieving family member who felt like a stranger in her own home. she can't think about bryn, and she won't talk about him. she doesn't know how without it tearing her open. if she ever loses someone else dear to her, when she has lost someone, rin mourns until she can't handle it anymore. then it's as if they never existed bc that's easier than being hit with grief every time she remembers them.

what makes them cry?

aside from the above asdfg nostalgia. looking upon the horizon and realizing how similar it looks to the view from her childhood window. tasting a dish that tastes like her father's cooking. nostalgia is like a knife to the gut every time :' ) otherwise, rin doesn't cry particularly easily, so unless you know exactly how to hurt her, you'll almost always get a snarky smile, and she'll act unaffected. she's kinda?? disconnected herself from negative emotions that aren't anger. anger is just! so easy to handle and easier to let go of. she can punch a tree or get into a fight and feel better. if she starts crying, she has no clue how to stop.

[Sanemi; Kanae] 🌿

     Physical therapy was a slow process, but Kanae was patient. Perhaps, Sanemi needed more of that. He had only been there for week after his most recent mission, and he insisted on surpassing every test she’d given him. No gourd was spared from his breathing, and he’d already started walking on his own as of day one ( much to Kanae’s dismay ). but Kanae was not entirely convinced he was ready for his next mission. Winter was here, and the nights were longer. Everyone across the manor was in high spirits despite the oncoming challenges that came with the solstice. Kanae believed all soldiers, Sanemi included, were in need of reprieve ( though she had little say if the crows would call ). Only a matter of time before he would be off and beyond her care, so she would enjoy what she could for now. Goodbye’s did not always lead to hello’s in their paths.

      The duo had been walking the premise, ensuring his balance was in order, when Kanae suddenly took Sanemi’s hands and left no room for protest. Whirling him away as if she was the wind Hashira, she led him to the garden which had been aptly decorated for the season. Streams of green and reds or golds and blues colored the scene, and snow was trickling over them. The garden, while relatively barren, still held some life to it.

     “ Before you get discharged, I wanted to show you something Shinazugawa-san! ” She exclaimed, released his hands, and pointed to a star on top of a tree. She doubted it held any significance to Sanemi, but that wouldn’t stop her from sharing it with him. However, beneath the star and to the front of it was a wooden archway. Suddenly, Kanae noted a new addition to the plethora of festivities in the garden. Was this Mitsuri’s doing? Kanae wondered as she identified the mistletoe. Then, she suddenly had a thought.

     Hand previously pointing to the star suddenly took his arm and led him only a few steps further. This wasn’t her original plan, but who was she to deny tradition? Promptly, Kanae stood Sanemi in front of her and released him. Her fingers lingered where she’d pulled him, then they settled to his cheek where she pressed a soft kiss beside them.

     “ Take care of yourself, Shinazugawa-san. ”

     he took a deep breath, STEELING himself to try again with the words he could barely understand, let alone READ or pronounce.  biting down on the inside of his cheek, ellion looked over to his COMPANION, an embarrassed blush staining and warming his cheeks.   “i... don’t think i can READ this.”
