“Of course darling,” He feels stupid for not asking himself. He was too involved in his thoughts to even take notice of hidden meanings in the moment. “Are you alright?”

Ben was alright. She let out the breath she had been holding, the tension that had gathered in her chest eased. She worried about him, despite how GOOD Auradon was. Evil grew out of strange places, out of a want for power that no one was truly immune to. But– how was she settling in? She had used magic to dye her hair. Was using magic to stay on top of her classes. Used magic to remember her schedule. And yet still she smiled. “I’m great. It’s so much nicer here than it is on the Isle.”

“I’m sure there are many things nicer than the Isle, sadly.” It had not been his plan to cut off a better half of his subjects, but after years of torment and incidents involving magic he had no choice. It had been selfish of him, but there was no changing what had already happened. His smile fades only for a moment, thinking of this but returns it as quick as he lost it.

“I’m glad to hear that, of course if it’s the truth. I know it’s only been a few months, and I of all people know how hard it is to adjust to new things.”

Honestly, she didn’t expect to see the king here. Or, well, former king she supposed. Even if it was still completely crazy that they’d made a sixteen year old king. But he was here, standing in her dorm room. Which anyone being in her room besides Evie was weird but when it was her boyfriend’s father– well things got weirder. And of course it didn’t exactly fill her with confidence. “Um, your majesty? I wasn’t expecting to see you. Is everything alright– is Ben ok?!”

“Ben is fine I assure you,” Of course the girl would be rather surprised to find him, it had been planned for Belle to join him in this meeting as well but seeing as though she was away visiting Maurice, he had little choice. “I apologize for startling you, Belle is usually better at this sort of thing...I just wanted to see how you were settling in?”
