Meanwhile, on Thanos' ship, Sanctuary II, one of the 2014 Nebula's android parts misfires. Suddenly, an unknown being is being projected from her memory files. When Thanos runs a diagnostic test of her system, he learns there is another consciousness sharing her network -future Nebula- and that he will ultimately be successful in his mission of collecting the Infinity Stones and eradicating half of all living things in the universe.

Now all Thanos has to do to ensure his victory in the future is secure the past. "Thanos is such a shrewd, shrewd villain -smart, resolute, a juggernaut," Co-President of Marvel Studios Louis D'Esposito says. "He realizes that he won, and they have come back to get the Stones. So he devises a plan. He switches the Nebulas and has the bad Nebula come back with our Avengers."
