Enchanted April (1992). Four English women, after World War I, who are unhappy with their lives, and their time away on vacation in a beautiful Italian villa.

A charming albeit pretty slight film about four English women who rediscover themselves and their passion for life in Italy. It's the sort of film now that gets made every few years, but this one leans into the unexpected connections and is supported by some genuinely moving performances and gorgeous cinematography. Lovely. 7/10.

Peter Barnes was the first to join the duo. Although he lacked experience performing, he was a talented guitar player and was considered by their agent to be a good fit. Besides, the Barnes name carried a fair bit of weight to it what with Peter's own father being a musician.

Alice in Wonderland (1999)

My rating: 6/10

A pretty typical Hallmark literary adaptation. Great production values (the Henson made puppets in particular are astonishing) and a ludicrously overstuffed supporting cast, but it is a bit too committed to the source material - often to its detriment, because some things just don't translate well from page to screen.
