Bob Iger Will Set Disney Creatives To Make "Content" Based On Popular EPCOT Character "Figment", Disney CEO Hints Animated Series, Short-Form Content And More.
During Thursday’s Disney shareholder meeting, Iger was asked by a shareholder if he would consider using the character, who represents the broader theme of imagination, in other parts of the business.
Disney CEO Bob Iger is giving in to popular demand and says he will consider doing more with the beloved EPCOT character of Figment. Iger hinted that he will consider more projects on the character hinting a potential animated series (Likely made by Disney Television Animation for Disney Channel or Disney+), short-form content for platforms like Tik Tok and Youtube Shorts and more.
“This is my 24th year. 18th as CEO, and I think the question about Figment has been asked about 15 times,” Iger said. “We know that he’s popular with shareholders, the fact that they ask questions about him all the time. But we also know that he’s popular at EPCOT where you can meet him and journey into imagination. I’ll tell you why — I’ve been asked this so many times that I am going to ask our creative teams to consider making some form of series or short-form videos of Figment,” he said. “Because obviously, he’s more popular than just a walk-around character in our parks and resorts.”
In 2022, it was reported that a feature film about Figment was in development with Point Grey Pictures and Walt Disney Studios helming the project, The project will be EP by Seth Rogen with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem writters Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit attached as writers.
Hey Iger just a suggestion for the showrunner for the Figment animated series by Disney TVA for Disney Channel and Disney+.
Created by Walt Disney Animation Studios animatior Tony Baxter. The purple dragon character is featured in the theme park ride Journey Into Imagination With Figment at EPCOT in Florida at the Walt Disney World Resort and also greets guests inside the Imagination! pavilion with the dragon being the mascot of the annual EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival .
The character also has made cameos on the Inside Out franchise with Pixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter calling him one of his favorite characters.

Uncle Grandpa
Created by Peter Browngardt for the Cartoon Network, Uncle Grandpa is a surreal action-adventure comedy cartoon. The series centers on a whimsical, shapeshifting humanoid who is a friendly source of aid to any child who finds themselves in need. Uncle Grandpa stops by children's homes each day to see how they are doing. The children he visits have various difficulties and Uncle Grandpa helps them out through a series of chaotic and surreal misadventures.
He drives a UG-2000 model robotic RV known as the Perpetual Persistence and is often accompanied by four allies. This includes a talking red fanny pack named Belly Bag, a green dinosauroid named Mr. Gus, a static photographic cutout of a tiger named Giant Realistic Flying Tiger, and an anthropomorphic slice of pepperoni pizza named Pizza Steve.
Uncle Granbdpa is a spin-off of a previous cartoon entitled Secret Mountain Fort Awesome that was also created by Browngardt. In this show, Uncle Grandpa was a recurring guest star.
Peter Browngardt voices Uncle Grandpa, with the rest of the ensemble cast including Adam DeVine, Kevin Michael Richardson and Eric Bauza. The show premiered in September of 2013 and ran for five seasons.
