Narnia Prompt: Edmund’s marriage
Peter is trying to form an alliance with the Lord of the Lone Islands and it isn’t going well. Kralj (King) Vladar proposes one last option before they go into open war. An arranged marriage between one of the Pevensies and one of the Lords or Ladies of the Court.
Peter reluctantly agrees and calls a family meeting. By process of elimination, they settle on Edmund.
Peter can’t do it because anyone he marries will have a lot of power so he has to be patient and super picky. Susan can’t do it because countries are already starting to fight over her so she will have to marry for love and love alone. Lucy can’t get married because she’s thirteen.
To say Edmund is annoyed would be a severe understatement. He’s fifteen and understands why this has to happen, but he doesn’t have to like it.
A young lady, about sixteen, is sent over from the Isles and she and Edmund get married. Her name is Belleza, meaning beauty, and she’s not overly happy about the marriage either. She and Edmund agree that they’ll just be friends who happen to share a room... and a bed.
That works for about a year. Eventually, they start to fall in love. It starts out as just little things. Edmund compliments her on her dress, Belleza laughs at all of his sarcastic quips and comments.
Susan sees what’s happening immediately and starts chowing down on mental popcorn.
Lucy figures it out a few months later when she sees Edmund gives Belleza a flower while on a walk in the gardens.
Peter doesn’t figure it out until until about a couple months after that when Edmund announces at the breakfast table that they’re expecting a child.
Everyone thinks that they’ll stop after one or maybe two children. Everyone is wrong. By the time the Pevensie siblings disappear, Belleza is pregnant with their eighth child.
Peter, Susan, and Lucy always tease Edmund about his many, many children but he doesn’t mind. He loves his family and he loves being a father and a husband.
The children’s names are in a list below. Belleza and Edmund decided to give them an English name and a Lone Island name.
Moćan- powerful, mighty Edmund- rich protecter
Sreća- happiness, good fortune, luck, blessing Hellen- light
Jednak- identical, same John- God/Aslan is gracious
Blizanac- twin Henry- ruler of the home
Školjka- shell, seashell Anna- favor, grace
Odlučan- determined, resolute, resolved Richard- brave ruler
Bitka- battle Mary- beloved
Uzdanica- hope (she was born after Edmund disappeared. Belleza was hoping he’d come back) Sarah- lady, princess, noblewoman
I’m gonna make a story thing later about Narnia coming to England, the family’s reunion, and the Pevensie parents meeting their ocean of grandchildren.
