Synopsis
Where Did I Come From? (1985) is an animated adaptation of the best-selling 1973 children’s book by Peter Mayle and Arthur Robins.
Designed for children and parents to watch together, it explains the basics of human reproduction in a factual, age-appropriate format.
The film follows a loving couple through the biological process of conception, pregnancy, and birth.
It explains how sperm and egg meet, how a baby develops in the womb, and how childbirth happens — using correct terminology, warm narration, and humorous visuals to make the subject approachable.
Narrator Howie Mandel walks viewers through each step in a clear and friendly tone.
Scenes like the “sperm race” or the baby growing in the mother’s tummy are designed to be light-hearted but accurate.
The animation reflects the original book’s illustrations and aims to make the topic comfortable for young viewers while answering their questions honestly.
