Dartmoor Killing Ltd in association with Barn Cinema Dartington, picked up the prize for Premiere of the Year 99 sites and under at the Screen Awards, held at The Brewery, London.
The gong adds to the multi-awards Dartmoor Killing has picked up, and reflects the ambitious and atmospheric Dartmoor event screening.
The award was for the three evening outdoor Premiere that was staged with Barn Cinema Dartington at New Bridge on Dartmoor September 4-6, 2015.
The premiere event was up against tough competition from Oscar winning-film Son of Saul; Scottish Film, Sunset Song and the Nottingham Forest football documentary, I Believe in Miracles which premiered in the stadium with 60,000 fans.
“Our little film continues to surprise, said director Peter Nicholson. “It was released on Netflix North America, Australia and NZ this month and has now sold to China for DVD, VoD and PPV.”
The Screen Awards unveiled its 2016 winners, recognising excellence in UK marketing, distribution and exhibition in the past 12 months.

For the fifth year broadcaster Edith Bowman took to the stage to host the evening’s proceedings and announce the winners. With entries from nearly every major company in the industry, the competition was tough. The judges had the incredibly difficult task of deciding who this year’s worthy winners would be.
Screen International Editor Matt Mueller said: “Screen is delighted that the industry continues to embrace these awards, which are now in their seventh year.
“I’m thrilled that our expert panel of judges have recognized such a worthy and impressive group of winners – from across the industry spectrum, major studios to sole operators.
“All of our nominees and winners should be praised for their outstanding work in connecting films to audience’s right across the UK.”
