i wanna start listening to the hieron story of friends at the table, wheres the best episode to start?

OH BOY!! sorry i didnt get this ask until just now this is a bad website!!!!! 

uhh ok so the hieron story has 2 like, eras, for lack of a better word - there’s the dungeon world campaign, called seasons of hieron, which starts with autumn in hieron (the first season of the show) and continues with winter (s3) and then the soon to begin spring in hieron. these seasons follow the same characters as they explore a post-post apocalyptic fantasy world and grapple with faith, power, death, and u know. the end of the world. 

i know a lot of people who’ve started at the beginning and just jumped into autumn in hieron, however imo the best way to onboard is to start with marielda, which is the other era of the hieron universe. it’s a short, self contained, prequel season set thousands of years before the main seasons of hieron continuity, and it’s a really good intro to the hieron universe & the cast and tone of the show

the first 2 episodes are a collaborative worldbuilding/mapmaking game called the quiet year, and then the main story, played in blades in the dark, follows a crew of thieves in the city they built during the first 2 episodes

i generally recommend marielda as an onboarding point because its a good look at the,,, ethos of the show? it gives you an idea of the overall tone of friends at the table, and also what the show can be when the production and music and collaborative worldbuilding really hit their stride - something that doesnt quite happen in autumn in hieron bc the audio quality is pretty rough in a lot of places

After marielda you can either go back to autumn OR there’s a 2 episode recap of the whole first season and then you can jump straight into winter in hieron if you want to get caught up faster (thats what i did but i also ended up jumping back and listening to autumn when i was about halfway thru winter so take with a grain of salt)

elf cleric dnd oc here, wanted to say that my oc livia is a cleric of light who worships lathander, and that since first messaging u i have been invited to a dnd campaign!! ill finally be playing livia! im v excited :D

hey again! light clerics are seriously underappreciated, they can do some massive healing! also, if you’re playing a campaign like curse of strahd, that radiant damage will save your ass! 

but yay!!! im glad you got into a game! my online group and i have been together for a little over a year and we’re all really good friends now! i hope you have fun with your cleric! :)
