Gamora and Peter Eternal Love Gotg

I have so many thoughts about the GOTG 3 - Gamora and Peter. (Let me say Zoe and Chris did an incredible job with this love story. I can’t image anyone else playing their roles) I just wished they had MORE screen time. Many parts of Peter and Gamora’s relationship happened off screen. I was hoping for more direct answers regarding Gamora and Peter's relationship, while Zoe and Chris playing each respective role.

Here are my conclusions regarding Gamora and Peter’s relationship: Keep in mind Peter is 45 years old; Young Gamora is now at least 15 years or more younger than Peter.

I will start with my favorite moment in the movie. I felt that once Peter saw how dark the Young Gamora was, he wanted to remove that dark murderous Thanos energy more so than winning her love back. After seeing this darker side, Peter made a powerful statement to Young Gamora that was validated later in the movie. Peter told Young Gamora all the positive characteristics that the Gamora he loved had - Kindness and more importantly she wanted to help children.  HE STILL BELIEVED THOSE CHARACTERISTICS WERE IN YOUNG GAMORA. This was proven later in the movie when Young Gamora was enthusiastically helping the children escape to Knowhere.  Peter watched her help the children with joy on his face. He never gave up on who her character really was and loved her unconditionally. Young Gamora’s positive self development was initiated because of Peter’s unconditional love for her.

Gamora & Young Gamora has some level of psychic abilities with Peter. When Young Gamora looked at that picture of Peter and his family from earth, she sensed Peter needed to go back to earth to find his family.  The original Gamora showed this with encouraging Peter to go to Egos planet.

Gamora joining the Ravagers is direct connection to Peter. He was a ravager when she met and fell in love with him. She is with them for a reason.

Young Gamora will eventually come back to Peter, and they will become a couple. At the end of the movie, she hesitated walking away from Peter. That says a lot. Peter’s charm got to her.

Peter’s’ Grandfather symbolizes Peter; he will live a humble life; he will live to be an old man hopefully with Gamora by his side.

Gamora wasn’t actually quite sure what was up with the new kid. All she knew was that he came in, music blasting, and sat down next to her as easy as can be. 

No one sits by her. Not even new kids who don’t know how the system works all the way through. 

But here’s this guy in a leather jacket, scuffed shoes, and his hair isn’t brushed, and he’s bopping his head along to music. 

“Like Electric Light Orchestra?” He asks, catching her stare. “That’s what this is. I personally like ‘Evil Woman’ but ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’ is also a bop.” 

“Who are you?” Gamora asks. “Why are you sitting here?” 

“My name’s Peter,” he says, grinning. “Most everyone calls me Star Lord.” 

“Do you call your mother ‘everyone’?” Gamora asks. 

His eyes dim for a moment when people laugh. She feels only a bit bad. 

“Nah,” Peter says. “What’s your name?” 

“Gamora.” 

“For real?” 

“For real.” 

He follows her. Not in a creepy way, really. Sure, it’s annoying as all hell. But he finds out that she’s a guitarist in a band and that they need someone to get them into the venue that they’re trying to go for, and they need to come up with a cool name that doesn’t suck. 

“I like ‘Fuckening and the Bees’,” Nebula says, twirling a drumstick around her hand. 

“We don’t make metal grunge rock,” Gamora says. “Besides. The name sounds stupid.” 

“It’s kinda cool,” Peter says, but moves on quickly after Gamora sends him a glare. “But, as to your venue problem...I think I have it solved.” 

“How.” 

“I know a guy who knows a girl who knows a girl who knows the hostesses. The hostesses know the manager. You’ll be playing there next Friday.” 

And they are. Gamora feels so alive onstage, even if their band doesn’t have a name and Peter’s in the front row dancing wildly. 

They get favorable reviews and an offer to perform at one of the small theaters. 

They still need a name. 

“What about the Ravagers?” Rocket asks. 

“Sounds like a Rambo spin-off,” Nebula snorts. 

“How about the Lone Starshines?” Mantis suggests softly. Nebula kisses her hand, but shakes her head no. 

“Ugh,” Gamora groans. “All we need is a band name. One, stupid band name that won’t make my head want to fly off into the galaxy.” 

“Guardians,” Peter responds. He’s been quiet for a bit, thinking about the poster. “What about...Guardians of the Galaxy?” 

It sounds cool. They could pull out some more of the space references that they’re fond of. It’s a good thing to go. 

Gamora gets to know Peter as the performances roll on. He loves eighties music, hates opera with a burning passion, and one time at an entire jar of pickles when he was sad. 

“That’s...disgusting.” 

“Hey, nobody’s perfect. Except for Pepper Potts. She’s actually pretty perfect.” 

“You’re right about that.” 

Peter films all of their concerts, and even gets them to do some covers of songs for YouTube. 

They get noticed for one of his favorite songs, actually. “Come and Get Your Love.” A record label notices it, wants a couple of demos, and...

They take off. Their videos skyrocket in popularity, interviews are scheduled, and Peter still makes sure that they’re all okay. 

“Nebula, just please wear the purple facepaint,” Peter begs. “It’ll look cool.” 

“Fuck you,” she snorts. 

“Get Mantis,” Gamora mouths at him. 

“You’re a lifesaver,” Peter mutters back.  

When they get on their first tour bus, Gamora finds that she likes having time alone. It’s not easy being surrounded by thousands of people all the time, and she’s not really good at interacting. 

Peter helps a lot. He comes over and takes her hand and makes her listen to his unbearably cheesy music, but he smiles and it’s the best thing in the world. 

(Don’t tell him that she said that. She’ll kill you if you do.)

Consider Gamora teaching Nebula to waltz so she can dance with Mantis at their wedding

Gamora and Nebula were on a little bit more than speaking terms now, thank god. Nebula couldn’t imagine if she and Gamora were on fighting terms. They go shopping together, and talk to each other. 

She was the first to know about Neb proposing to Mantis, in fact. 

“You have to learn how to dance,” Gamora says. 

“I’m not asking Quill,” Nebula responds, crossing her arms. “I am not ever going to do that. I would rather step on Mantis’ toes. Besides, you’re not a dancer.” 

“Where you can see,” Gamora says, smiling. “Drax doesn’t know everything, sister.” 

Nebula meets her early in the morning. It’s just like learning how to fight; you know the moves, you execute them. Minus the knives, guns, swords, fists, teeth, cuffs, daggers, spears, and the occasional trident. 

“You’re going to do great,” Gamora says. “Don’t be nervous. And don’t wear your blue boots.” 

“Mantis likes them!” 

“That is because Mantis likes her fashion sense. Wear the boots you like. You won’t be able to dance in the blue ones.” 

Gamora smiles at her sister. Their first dance will be beautiful–Mantis has been discussing her dress with Drax, who has been sworn to secrecy. (And been really bad at it.) 

There are steps that take Nebula a little bit longer. She’s still too awkward with the spins, but it’ll all work out. 

Gamora sees her handiwork on the day of, when Mantis and Nebula dance to Peter’s soundtracks, and Mantis giggles as she swings out too wide and nearly hits Yondu’s punch glass. 

“I didn’t know Nebula was a dancer,” Peter says. Gamora nods. 

“She likes to move. She just usually doesn’t do it to music.” 

“Much like yourself,” Peter says. “Do you think Drax still thinks we’re an odd fit?” 

“We fit,” Gamora says. “Hasn’t all this time proved it?” 

They go back to watching Nebula smile at her wife, laughing as they dance off the floor, nearer to the food. Mantis delicately nicks a dessert from the table, putting it in Nebula’s mouth as they continue to twirl. They’ll be happy together.
